I have a guy wanting to sell me a dana44 rear from an '05, a new set of Yukon 4.88s for 30/44, and an Eaton Detroit trutrac for the 44. 1600 and a 6 pack...is this a good deal? Should I pull the trigger? I was planning on doing a super35, as I don't do any aggressive offroading, mostly just forest service roads, occasionally rocky trails. I currently have stock dana 30/35 on my 98. 3in teraflex lift, 33/12.5r15.

If you build that 44 on ECGS, it’ll cost double that price that he’s offering. To re-gear the front plan on about $1000 with the 4.88s but you should pick that up. It’s a good deal if you’re wanting 4.88s. what transmission do you have?

I loved my 4.88 and 33s combo. I would grab that thing if you can. Be aware that you may need a new driveshaft. The 44 pinion is about an inch longer and if it’s from a Rubi it’ll need a 1330 instead of a 1310 u joint. The yoke it bigger on the Rubi.

It's a non rubi.

You will still need to shorten the driveshaft. You can take it to a shop to get it shortened and balanced, or switch over to a Slip Yoke Eliminator. Very easy install if you pull the transfer case.
