So I bought this tj about 6 months ago. Drove perfectly fine for the last 4 months. It had 99k miles when bought. About 2 months ago when I would have less then half a tank it would take a couple key turns to get it to start. I figured maybe the tank wasn’t vented properly. But I looked into it and it was. So then about a month ago with that issue still it began to bogg when trying to accelerate up hill or even leaving from a stop. It basically was inoperable other than driving around my small town. So I parked it. It wasn’t giving a cel but there was a code for lean bank 2. So I pulled the plugs. 3 looked normal but 1 was a nice chalky white. So I replaced all the plugs. I mind you at this point before I changed plugs, it would start and drive around town. Well when doing the plugs I broke a wire. So I bought new wires. Go to start it to see and now it would start then die right away. So I then pulled the injectors. I left them in the rail and cranked to see if one was clogged. And #1 wasn’t doing a damn thing. So I bought a new injector. Still not a thing from it. Other 3 past that one spray just fine. So now I’m lost. Any insight?

Start with a fuel pressure gauge. Auto parts stores rent them. Not sure if your 2.5 has a schedule valve on the fuel rail.

I followed those instructions but was unsuccessful. The Bosch replacement pump lasted a week. In the end my plastics were too brittle.

I've been running a BrutePower $58 fuel essentially now for a couple months and so far so good. Almost the cheapest one I could find.

As a compromise I installed a fuel pressure gauge on my fuel rail so I can always easily check at a glance. Spent more money on the adapter and gauge from Racetronix.

If it is your fuel pump, then you will need to drop the tank. One person ‘can’ do it. Two is easier. Watch a few videos 1st and read a few of the posts.
While you have it down, if you trim 1/3 off the breather tube inside the tank, your 15 gallon tank will turn into a 19 gal tank. If you don’t your gas gauge will read as follows:
F=full
3/4=1/2 tank
1/2=1/4 tank
1/4=walk
Again read a few posts and watch a few videos.

If only one injector isn't firing i would hook a noid light up to its plug and see if it is getting pulsed. A loose connection in the plug or broken wire can do that. I would check this before dropping the tank

That's sad.. Does your build sheet verify that?
VIN sheet sure does. 02 might have been last year of the mini tanks. It is an easy fix, if you have your tank dropped to modify to a 19 gal tank. But honestly, as weight sensitive as the 2.5Low are those extra 5 gal are a bit of a burden.

I swapped a 19 gallon into my 97 se and I didn't notice much of any difference in power. I do like seeing that fuel gage sit on full for much longer though. It's almost like my jeep doesn't use gas for those first 50 miles of a new tank ha!
