Stop buying new Jeeps

Article I seen, and mostly agree with.

TLDR: A 50k+ Jeep sucks on the highway, you aren’t going off road, so stop wasting money. Buy cheap and enjoy it

Do people not find the drive by wire lag a problem when taking a new Jeep offroad? Or, has no one taken a new Jeep offroad yet?
I have often wondered about this. 75% of the people I ride with are in JKs, I have not heard them complain about throttle response but, I read about it pretty often?

I sometimes wish for a newer Jeep, and throttle response was my only issue….my TJ is cursed.

There’s a video from Pritchett canyon on “flex rocks and rollovers” where a jk flops over because of this(or something similar to it) techno-glitched and he gave it gas and nothing happened. Drive by wire also feels like straight up dogshit to me personally.

Didn't know about this, but it doesn't surprise me. Crap programming and latency, latency, latency in everything!

If someone gave me a JK I'd sell it immediately. The new JLs are very good off-road.
I’ve never been a JK fan, and honestly I probably won’t ever own a wrangler again once the TJ is gone. If I do it’ll be another TJ.

Yep, and I detest power seats. Even more stupid than a smartphone.
One nice feature is after my wife or son drives and jack the seat all up I just hit the remote door unlock and the seat adjusts to my setting automatically…that i like.

I’m not very familiar with the nuances between the two. What do you like about the JL that you don’t like about the JK?

My old Mercedes has a similar feature - if the car is going to have power seats, it might as well have the memory. But I'd just as soon it not have any of that - power seats are S-L-O-W. Never mind the base problem with them: Expense.

I wouldn’t mind a new JL
The thing I don’t understand about the JL is the funky front axle disconnect. The front right half-shaft disconnects from the differential which results in the front driveshaft not turning when on the highway. Presumably this saves some gas. But if the driveshaft is not turning, the left half-shaft will cause the spider gears to spin around like crazy. Is that any better than just letting the driveshaft spin?

A good friend of mine's son bought a new 2021 Wrangler Sahara. Spent a load of cash for it, new. It has been in the shop twice for electronic chip issues. Sat once I think he said for 2 weeks waiting on parts....chips are in short supply. Lots of cash for a vehicle that you can't drive cause it sitting in a dealer shop@!
