Here's what I was trying to avoid when I built this forum...

No need to thank me (though your thanks is appreciated). I got so tired of the clutter (and attitude) over at WF and JF, I just decided enough was enough.

Amen, I haven't posted there since. Nothing has happened that I haven't been able to figure out from the help here.

I was also on another site, but the gestapo like moderators quelled that little stint. Basically, "if you're different than us, we will try to out you."

This has been a problem with a lot of the other forums I was on at one point. The moderators are on some sort of power trip, and they're nothing but a bunch of a$$holes.

I 100% agree. Nothing pisses me off more then when someone talks down to me ... No matter if you are right or not, all I will say is F-YOU!

I agree. I’ve found myself banned from a number of other forums because of this. I would think that is those admins really valued the members of their forum, they would get better moderators.

You are doing a great job Chris. Best forum around that I see and I used to be in many. In two of the best I was involved in the past the owner had several of us moderating because of spammers and bad eggs. It kept it clean and free of bad tempers. They too were a simple format with great guys that could post build threads, opinions, ideas, and how to's without anyone getting bent or disrespectful. On both of these other forums the owner was present and it was clear to new members they were screened and knew the rules- again Chris (and other moderators) great job!

I think that may be one of the bigger issues with big forums these days. The owner(s) aren’t around, and therefore sometimes things start going to hell.

This is my first active forum that I have belonged to so I thought that most would be this way so I have ventured out and checked out others and I easily keep coming back here. Very user friendly and great info, even though the education can cost $$, I hope it saves me once on the trails.

I have had the opposite experience. Mods and admin that are completely absent. ****heads busting into threads to criticize everything, butting in and going e-commando etc etc nothing happens. I've quit several forums after years because they no longer serve any purpose but to allow overly opinionated blow-hards to piss on people's projects.

There was an incident on one of the 2 jeep forums mentioned earlier (can't remember which) back in the spring where essentially a guy was threatening to kill people. He posted pics of some guns and basically said he was going to shoot some jeepers over a TV show thread. Nothing ever happened to the guy, even after some folks reported it...or said they did.

Did he have a pony tail and almost cult like following?

Yeah good job @Chris with this forum. I have not been much lately because of life stuff but it is always a pleasure coming here even just to browse/lurk. I actually help run the forum for my company and we are about move to a different platform and kill most the categories in the migration because it has gotten out of hand.

Thank you! Yep, you've really got to watch it with all the categories. When you start getting too many of them, it becomes cluttered and hard to navigate IMHO.
