LJR long term "rebuild"

43's tend to change the people you hang out with.

All the people I hang out with are 40+. I am the little Jeep.

We still like running easy trails and taking in the outdoors. I don't mind trail guiding for stock Jeeps either. I just want to be more comfortable and capable with my wife in the Jeep. I also want to be able to send it like a Duke boy when she's scared and gets out.

Heading over to to the shop tonight to weld up the 14 bolt truss and tear down the diffs.

Ordered 2 sets of Mevotech ball joints for both the Dana 60's, one for me and one for a gift to my friends rig for all his help. We are going to try these out and see if we have a failure. If we do, ball joint eliminators are the next step.

Also super excited about a conversation I had with Mickey Thompson today. Not 100% yet, but it looks like I might be getting a set of 43" Pro XS tires for the Jeep. This means I will need to highline and will probably replace all my armor. Looking at Motobilt for everything.

More to come....

KEWL.
If you get the Pro XS tires I think you'll like them. Granted I haven't had mine out yet but they are an impressive tire. I can't wait to get out on a trail and see how they perform.

A friend just ordered the TSL in 43" for his stretched TJ. The price is pretty good. Will see what he thinks of them after a few runs. Was looking at Raceline for wheels. I have a set now and they have been solid. They have a sale going but what I want is on back order. Just have to be patient.
Do I hear of a set of racelines being sold?

Depending on BS, I might be interested. Been looking to get away from my JK spec wheels on adapters...
Once I start taking it apart I will list everything here. Plan to price all parts about 50% of retail but will trade fair. The axles are going to cost some bucks and some people will complain. Lots of expensive components in there.

Short shift today. Put my pitiful welding skills to the test again and fully burned in the truss. Had my buddy tig the tubes in. It ain’t coming off, that’s about all I’ll say.

We did have time to tear down the housing and prep for new internals. Stock 4.10 gears and gov lock carrier looked good so we donated them to a buddy for his truck. Pressed out the pinion and removed the races. Little cleaning and it’s ready for a spool and some 5.38’s. I have all the parts just not the time.

Nice work. Have you checked for straightness? I was surprised how much mine moved when I did the truss. It wasn't out by a whole bunch, but I took the time to straighten it up - which was fun.

No but I did spread the heat and move back and forth when I welded it up. It was tacked on four corners and the center when I started.

Forgot my buddy started bending hoops for this beast. Gonna do the same on mine in the front. Planning towers in the back.

Working with Raceline on some wheels.

I have these choices. Leaning towards options 3, its the widest with decent BS. Consider I am going to run a 15 wide tire on a 72" Superduty axles. I think the extra 1/2" is worth it. (Wife would probably agree)

Thoughts?

232 Monster 17x8.5 -25 3.75"BS in stock and ready to ship (already have this wheel on the Jeep in 17" 5x4.5)

I like the darker contrast of the RT232, but I agree with going with the wider wheel.

I see that Mike_H already beat me to it, but I too would be interested when you put your wheels/tires up for sale.

Why only Raceline if I might ask? Why not Trailready? Or Spyderlock? ALso I know not as light as aluminum but what about steel beadlock wheels?
It isn't like you are building a light weight rig.

For a 40"+ diameter tire I don't know that the 9" or 9.5" rim is going to matter as much as it as it does with other tires.

Steel inserts instead of threaded aluminum for one. Big discount and already having a set on the Jeep without issues as well. Hate the Spiderlock looks.

Yeah, still not 100% on 40" or 43" tires. MT shows recommended minimum rim width for 40" is 9" and 43" is 9.5". Probably wont make a bit of difference either way.
