Lonewolf's 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport

I don't recall if you have a press but if you don't bring it over and we can straighten it out in no time.

For the tie rod....
Thanks! I actually just scored a press today that someone was throwing away and I was able to snag .

That's an awesome deal. Looks brand new. The press has been handy a few times.

Get some giant nuts and weld them to one side of the pins that hold the shelf in place. It will ensure they don't fall out while working on it.

Wolf - Did it come with the standard cast arbor plates? I so, I suggest tossing them as they tend to shatter - sometimes dangerously (ask me how I know). Pick up some steel plates if you can.

Since the snow was inaccessible last weekend I decided to take the family to hollister for New Years day. It was pretty fun I was expecting it to be a lot more busier than it was. Most of the people stayed at the bottom at the mud pits and didn’t go up into the hills

now that everything was covered in mud I thought this would be the perfect time to swap the rear axle out. I started with grinding all the rust off from when I originally cut the old brackets off. I also pulled the rear axle out

So I centered the axle under the Jeep and put it on jack stands at about ride height and started laying out the brackets, I figured where they landed naturally so the joint was in a neutral spot was the best place to put them, the Uppers pretty much fell in the stock location but the lowers wanted to be an inch further inward. Should I move them outward or leave them where they want to fall naturally?

So I was plugging away and was getting close to finishing the axle swap. I got the sway bar and shock mounts welded on

of course since everything was going easy I found out that the XJ Dana 44 I’m building has a different axle flange bolt pattern than a TJ, it is slightly bigger. And since this axle came with no brakes I’m at a standstill on what I can do. There are no backing plates that I can find for a 86-90 xj Dana 44

Dang some nice welds being laid down.

Do you have the measurements for the flange size?

Yea it is 3 5/16 by 2 in ,

My plan at this point is to re-drill the backing plate of the drums I have and cut off the seal, bearing and collar so I can install the XJ bearing retainer plates
