Lonewolf's 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Yea it is 3 5/16 by 2 in ,

My plan at this point is to re-drill the backing plate of the drums I have and cut off the seal, bearing and collar so I can install the XJ bearing retainer plates
Are they the same inner axles? If so I believe @bobthetj03 has a few spare oem sets laying around unless he parted with them.

I just realized inner axle doesn't matter in your application since the backing plate goes right to the outer axle housing. 🤦‍♂️

I redrilled the backing plates and everything seems to fit together ok. I’m going to try to press off the bearings and collar so I can reuse them, I’m also still trying to find the XJ Dana 44 bearing retainer plates or I’ll end up drilling the regular tj ones I have now

I’m still waiting on the correct bearing retainers, hopefully sometime next week. They aren’t very common and were a little diff to find. I found the ones that came with the axle they have a bevel for disk brakes. So I’ll wait for the flat ones. I painted everything and got a few new drum brake parts

So I put about 200 miles on everything, and it seems ok. nothing is leaking and after I adjusted the brakes everything is working as it should. surprisingly there are no vibrations up to 85 mph.

the only issue I had going together was the track bar bottomed out so I had to trim it, but other than that it seems good to go.

the upper ranch is 800 acres and 24 miles of trails and the lower ranch is 1500 acres, the rest of the 6800 acres is designated for dirt bikes/quads. its a good mix of easy fire roads and technical obstacles

It's always amazed me how many miles of trails they have there.

Had a free Sunday so loaded up the family and did a day trip to Hollister, it was a good day , a little crowded but it was mostly overlanders I guess because the fire roads were busy and all the obstacles were empty
