Maybe this is a weird question, I've always driven cheap beater cars and had liability only. Now that my Jeep is attaining "toy" status living in the garage, and I'm dumping a lot of money into it, I need some real insurance. If I get hit by some idiot without insurance I will be out a lot and won't be able to replace it really.

Been thinking about Hagerty (but I don't know much about it) or just calling my insurance Co and getting a better policy for it. I probably drove it 5-7k last year including 2 trips to Moab if that effects how this all works.

I've only had liability on my beaters and Jeeps too. I've been thinking about full coverage on my Jeep after driving in recent snow/ice storms and sliding off the road a couple of times.
p.s. The one Jeep I had full coverage on (12 years ago) got hit at 50 mph in the side by someone with no insurance. I looked at it like the full coverage was a bad Omen.

I carry full coverage on mine, but that’s because it’s in excellent original-ish shape. Clean, low-mileage TJs still fetch ridiculous amounts of money, so on the chance it gets wrecked or stolen, I’m covered. I have USAA and they’ll give me an additional 20% of the estimated value in the case of a total loss.

Do you know how they view modifications?
I have been meaning to get in touch with them and ask if they will cover everything as long as I have proof of purchase, or do I need to declare added value of mods, but it has been slipping my mind for the past 2 month now.

Hagerty is a good option. They will write a custom policy for you. I currently just have full coverage on mine, actually storage coverage at the moment. I don’t drive mine over the winter months so it’s garage kept and I think pay a whopping 10 dollars for storage coverage.

I just use a regular insurance company now, but once summer hits I’ll be calling up Hagerty. They were started in my town, mostly known for insuring classic cars, they offer more than that. I do carry full coverage on mine, but the issue with that is they will just payout to bluebook in most cases, which many of us have a lot of money tied up in our jeeps, way more than bluebook.

A good friend of mine got a nice LJ this past summer, he used Hagerty. It’s a bone stock LJ. He got it for a steal, but he had Hagerty write a policy to value it at 20,000. He actually pays a very reasonable amount for that coverage, I think he pays 70 a month for that coverage. I pay about 90 for mine full coverage, but I’m only covered for blue book.

So I would for sure check into Hagerty

Full coverage with glass
Just a matter of time before the windshield goes.
My 2000 is still low miles and in near perfect condition and a DD.

State Farm, with all my vehicles and property. Agent asked for photos cause I was concerned about my rebuilt title. Agent actually viewed my TJ and took the photos. No problem repairing or replacing if need be.
Full coverage which includes uninsured motorist, comprehensive, and glass.

State Funny Farm maybe. They quoted me $300 a month with my shady driving record. I pay $50.

full coverage with a 'special modifications' rider here, it's $10,000 in additional coverage to cover all the bullshit we pile onto these things that really don't increase its resale value but we do it anyway because at the end of the day we're really no different than we were when we were 7 years old laying in the dirt rolling Tonka Trucks around - when it comes to toys we've never been known for the best decisions - but we smile a lot

+1 for StateFarm. When I rolled, I sent them a list of mods and receipts, they gave me a line item breakdown of what they’d pay. I could either accept their payment, or pull that part/mod. I got a fair payout and had the cash in under a week.

Full coverage, including uninsured motorist, with financial levels that exceed the state required minimums, and a $500 deductible on my car ('08 Dodge R/T Charger) the Jeep & the Harley. All through State Farm. Regardless of which company you choose, don't be the reason that your vehicle isn't covered because you tried to save $10/month.
They covered the Harley and let me remove the mods a couple years ago when I got hit. Let me tell you, that bike looked like this when the adjuster came to pick it up.

I have full coverage with State Farm. Mine is insured for 35k.
I have provided them with receipts. They had an agent take pictures.
If it gets stolen or totaled I get 35k. I'm sure it's built into my premium.
I've been with State Farm since the 80's and they have always been easy to deal with.
Windshields are under $200 installed here.
I just priced one for mine, $405.00. The last one I had installed was a couple years ago and it was $280.00 i believe.

Last one I had installed here was a PPG tinted top, paid $158.50. Guy has been in business at his current location (family) for three generations. Had at least half a dozen in stock when I was there. He referred to a Jeep windshield as a stone magnet 😁.
