Anybody have one of these? Wonder how well it would hold up mounted on a spare tire jerry can mount.

I can't seem to carry enough tools on the trail and I'm looking for solutions. I need the backseat for my little girl so I can't flip or remove seat.

I've seen the Tuffy underseat drawer and it's nice but not convenient or portable for tools.

I've got two 14" canvas tool bags, one with tools and one with recovery gear. A craftsman blow mold box socket set of 1/4,3/8 & 1/2 . A seat back organizer modified to fit the back seat. Air compressor, Hi lift, axe and shovel all behind the seat. Just want a better selection of hand tools then what fit in that bag, not to mention misc Ujoints, duct tape, oil, spray, etc.

I know most hate the hi lift, but it's mounted across the tub and at tailgate level and not in the way, besides it keeps stuff from bouncing out on the trail. I know they are dangerous but twice in the last year we've used one to break a tire bead to pop in a valve stem.

When I ride on the trail, the last thing I want to deal with is my tools being wet. Unless that thing is sealed up really well (does not look like it in the photos) there are better options out. Although my solution will not be exactly the same as yours my use is similar & different:
  • I must be able to access and remove my back seats at all times, I have quite a few people ride with me so I use it a bit.
  • I want to minimize "loose" tools, meaning I want something secured/bolted down to prevent theft.
The solution I like is the full length tuffy underseat drawer as it will fit all of my fluids/straps/medical/tools and can easily be sectioned off (I am a simple tool guy so I only keep what I need to get back on the road inside my Jeep).

Also on top of this, behind the seat have found I have room for two weather sealed plastic tool boxes on top of this ratcheted down. I don't like this option though because people steal tools like its nobody's business when they aren't bolted down.

What I'm getting at here is there are few products on the market designed to work well behind the seat or under it. If you are something similar to what @Kyle_W posted above you will need to have one specifically made. Although I anticipate if someone made a tool box that bolted in and sat behind the rear seat it would be a fantastic product.

Let us know what you end up going with.
 
Well, ordered the can and the mount, both are easily removable so I can just mount it when needed. That should solve the need and theft issues. We'll see.

Inside the Jeep, cool. But outside, on a rack? There is no weather sealing so.... rain, mud, dust, dirt... instant access.

As mentioned this is for trail rides.

Can showed yesterday, I unboxed it and left it in the rain. Mount showed up today.

Can stayed dry inside due to overlap of door and lid. Would not call it waterproof more like water resistant.

Went on fast, bracket behind spare and one bolt to bracket. Remove 1 bolt and the whole things comes off in under a minute. I think this is going to work for me and I think it looks good.

Can you post up links to the cans and mount. This is a great idea. Looks fantastic!
