Blaine made a batch of tie rods that will shatter your knuckles before bending.
(My words not his)

Figured we could have more fun with @DrDmoney's on board welder fixing a knuckle than bending my Currie tie rod with a winch 🤣
Those are not my words at all. My words are due to folks bending the Currie tie rod and then getting on the forums to bitch that it failed even though they drove home and were able to straighten it back out to run trails another day. After explaining over and over that it was designed to bend, not easily but bend to protect upstream components, and more of that than I could stand I said fine, here you go, heat treated 4340 that you can't bend. Now don't call me if you break something that is harder to fix.

Sanded the tie rod a bit and added 4 coats of clear. The wife gave me weird looks when she walked into the garage and saw me vigorously rubbing the shaft.

Nifty use of your scrap metal bits. I'm waiting for my tie rod ends to show up so I can hang it and tape them off.
I was hoping to make a poor man's lathe with my drill but I couldn't find a 1 1/8th -16 bolt. It would have made sanding a lot easier and the metal more shiny but ultimately I has happy with what I did and knew it was just going to get bashed anyways.

If that was for the threaded ends, they are metric. 22mm x 1.5 IIRC.

Yep no brainer for sure. Hopefully the old one will get used. Now we just have to talk @JMT to go York and I can give away the other one I got sitting here.
Old post but if you've still got some Yorks sitting around i'd be interested
