GMRS or HAM radio?

And yet, that is the LEAST of the problems with that site and others like it. People want to limit themselves to a "walled garden/cesspool", that's not communications, its laziness. You want to communicate with me, send me an email - its REAL easy to setup an email list so your cat video goes to everyone interested, no membership in any 3rd party "service" needed.

When I want to communicate with a company, I expect to do so via their website, NOT facefuck or really ANY 3rd party site - good, bad, or indifferent. Companies spend thousands of dollars setting up beautiful websites, then proceed to ignore them. Some of them are even Fortune 500 corporations - yet many of them will respond on a 3rd party site. Makes zero sense and makes their online presence look completely amateurish, unprofessional, and not important to them. *shrug*
True. I despise being tracked like I’ve found lately. Lately I just have to speak certain words and it pops up in ads.

I have tried to learn the “features” that allow the tracking. I’m just not up to it. I’ve taken my hand off the wheel too long ago.

Well I guess I'm lucky that I have an understanding son then. He knows I don't like nor want to clog up my life with more social media junk so he makes sure to post things on FB for me to see. Yep I might be missing some things but that is also part of not living near them.

Guess what? Before FB and the internet we wrote letters and sent pictures.
Some public schools have removed cursive writing from the curriculum

No kidding - a spot check on eBay shows them north of $50!

You have to be willing to endure tons of worthless emails for survivalist sites and then occasionally they'll send you a good offer... I had to delete all those places cause I spent too much money on JUNK...

That's impressive, you are a master of Chinese commerce. You all CHIRPed out?
I know and I am not really proud of it but I I just really like cheap shit.
And its f'n Banggood, I just went to counseling, I was like 30 days clean but that stupid newsletter came in with all these crazy sales and my freaking finger before I could close my laptop I had already hit the buy now.
Talk about targeting!!!
All of there ads to me are flashlights, 2 way radios and rc cars. I have ZERO self control when it comes to cheap electronics.

I keep hearing about this, although I've never experienced it - it would creep me out!

I don't know about the speaking part but I HATE that I search something and then BOOM it shows up. Fucking SUCKS.

pay to have them program a zillion useless channels that don't help you? WTF? It's not rocket science!

Maybe just me but I opt for the simplest single band GMRS radios, whether mobile or HT. They work on the trail, work with area repeaters from distance and require only the simplest of single band antennas that require no tuning. 1/4 wave GMRS antenna is 6" long and work as well as any "gain" antenna, provided you have a ground plane.

Fewer 'features' and buttons is my cup-o-tea.
Fiddle fucking with multi-function, multi-band CCRs drives me nuts.

If one wants ham, it REQUIRES a license, testing and certification, except in emergencies. GMRS "requires" a license.

Some of us JUST CAN'T do things the simple way. Shit look at my damn build. It would be done if I'd done the simple things.

That’s funny. I did a round of 20 bf888s late last year that had the default language in Chinese. Had to watch a bunch of YouTube vids to get to the bottom of it. These were airmailed from China too.

I don't see that either - mainly because I have ad guard with just about every filter imaginable turned on, as well as 2 or 3 other tracking suppressors. I never see ads, nor most social media widgets. I also have my browser set to purge cache upon closing and daily.

used to be the case with our company and our home networks. Now most of the sites I need/want to visit will not function with all the suppression on. That is when I started noticing the crap/targeted ads.
