Who rotates the spare tire?

I do.

I didn't have a matched spare when I got my Jeep. The dealship where I purchased had put new tires on the ground, but not the spare. I later matched the spare so I could do all 5 at the same time.

Rotating them all at the same time means I only have one tire removed at a time. No need to drag out jackstands; I just use a single floor jack and move around the Jeep to complete the rotations.

Same rotation pattern here but I never even thought about being able to do one wheel at a time. I still put all four corners on stands, remove all 23 lug nuts, move each tire to its new position, then put on and torque all the nuts. I think it's faster but your way would be the only way to do it if you don't have four jack stands.
 
I do. Discount asks me every time and I say yes!

Do you tell them what pattern to use? I tried that but they didn't do it the same way the second time which gave me the impression they don't have a standardized 5 tire rotation and I may get something different from different locations or different techs.

I go in often enough that I don't think about it. Plus, whenever I remove two or more tires, I mix them up.

I currently only have one jack and pair of stands, so the one tire at a time works best for me. I'm getting quicker having done it a couple of of times. It's like choreography, all steps done on one then repeat on the next.
 
I have ruined a tire several years ago and took it out of the rotation. I just got a decent used tire as a spare until the others were worn. It's a good solution if you loose one mid-life. I just let the used tire sit on the carrier until the others were worn.

I did...PO put 33" KO2s on this Jeep. Spare still had the new tire nubbies whereas the rears were about half gone.

Found out the spare is pretty well out of balance.

It's on the right rear now...had it up front but that was a really bad place.

I do a 5 tire rotation using that same pattern. Besides lasting longer, another reason to do a five tire rotation is the tires stay the same diameter. My rear detroit locker would not be happy with tires that are different sizes. And if the spare goes on the front the jeep tracks better with tires the same size.

I rotate all five tires. It hurts my heart to see an unused spare and four bald tires. Besides, when you replace tires you inevitably get a different brand or size and the perfectly good old spare goes into a landfill along with the other tires.
