Midnight Metalworks Rockbox D300

i had sure hoped this wasn't gonna turn into what it's turned into. i think this MMW guy might have bittin off more than he thought. seems to me like "i can do this and make a few bucks" turned into i have to make 200 of these things like right now.
i haven't seen a single 205 posted up complete yet, those were supposed to be in the works months ago. i think this guy got buried in work real quick and he's still tryin to sort this mess while dreaming of adding more products.

then the cost jumped up right in line with Behemoth.............this what what set them aside from Behe, this is what brought those orders in and now your right on scale with their prices but not the manufacturing or support. not good IMO, people might wait 2 months to save 600$, they won't be patient paying the same but waiting longer and we are startin to see this.

TBH i'd support a small owner operated business b4 a corporate structured 1, but if the moneys just about equal now, the games changed into delivery and service times..........and he's not able to compete at that level.

i know it's kinda dumb .....few hundred $, but i work for every penny i make. but i'da bought a case for 1200, maybe..........i won't even consider it for 1800$.
same with my bumper guards they used to be 85$ now you want 139$......i was on the fence b4 .......shove them up your ass now. 1/2 the country went lazy and wants to be paid double for it, i won't support that.

If he has the business sense, he'll eventually settle on the price that sells a volume he can support. If he doesn't, well...

ya we'll see. i saw they just moved to a bigger shop, growing pains will happen, but if you cost what the big guy does you're kinda expected have to deliver like the big guy does.

In the same boat... Placed my order 1/24/22 was told the same 8-10 week leadtime... On the 9th week and for the next 3weeks I asked for updates and was told he had no updates to provide... 3 weeks ago I reached out again and was told "supply chain issues" but should be sent hopefully before the end of May.... I get growing your business, but wish he would have stopped taking orders for a period of time to get his stuff together instead of having a bunch of frustrated customers. Hopefully it will show up soon as I would have already had an Atlas in hand.

Nothing against AA at all but they have not been without supply chain problems either. I received a case for a JK after a much longer than normal wait, it came in wrong, shafts were on the way to heat treat, took another 3 weeks to get them and one on the way to us.

Not defending MMW but look at any of the gearing threads where folks are and have been waiting on bearings, set up kits, lockers and what not. Nothing we used to be able to count on as being able to be snagged with a short lead time is the same. And, it seems that the more important an item is, the harder it is to get.

Lest we forget, I've had a stroker on order for almost 2 years. Still patiently waiting.

True, seems like S&J has are getting their strokers out in 4-6 months? Who did you go with?

Still waiting on my ORI order from December. Was supposed to ship in April. Good thing I don’t need them for a few more months.

Did Behemoth ever start delivering product?
IDK, but i guess that's a fair question......i just happen to see more post's about MMW. i never followed Behemoth, i lost interest when i saw the CEO's video of the co.
MMW was ideally more of a business i'd rather support. the fact he/they were making the cases cheaper than the corporate competition was an enticing factor.

Only seeing more posts because that's what you're looking for. There was lots of bullshit about Behemoth taking money and not delivering product on other forums.

Is that really a factor though? Once you get into Atlas money for a t-case, you want the corporate business model so they stick around, have the resources to solve problems, and have the resources to take care of business.

The only reason OX is still around is a corporation stepped in and rescued their dumbasses. Stak didn't have that and they failed, miserably.

The big corporate business model is not always a bad thing. I wish I had the space, money, and wherewithal to stock a 1000 sets of calipers at a time. 100 just doesn't do it for all the reasons it never can. Cost, supply chain issues, and quality.

I've worked for two manufacturers in the same industry, one a $15B company and one a $70M. $70M sounds big to most of us but in the world of industrial equipment manufacturing it's basically a mom and pop shop.

The difference between the two in the problem set they each deal with and the resources they have to deal with them was huge. Got a challenging engineering problem? One company can throw a whole team at it for months, the other finds a guy that's just finishing up something else and he's basically stuck trying to work it in for life. Have a supply chain problem? Big company threatens the supplier with pulling the business (up to and including just buying into that industry for themselves) , which is so much of their volume they either bend over backwards to do what you want or they close their doors. The smaller company has to beg or go door to door looking for alternatives, or just pass the delay on to their customers.

in some instances i like dealing with the guy with dirty hands not his representative.

i feel you have to wash your hands a few times a day............and the reason i try and pay attention.

Hey I'm Joe the assembly and shipping guy at midnight metalworks. Just want to give you guys whynour wait times have increased. We ran out of outputs shafts we bought every single one jb conversions had. He had been making batch every 3 months then all of a sudden no warning stopped and won't make any more till September. We had been preparing for this when things really took off we contracted a very highly recommended gear and shaft in the industry maker he keeps delaying. We just worked our a deal with Novak they will start remaking the dana 300 32 spline front outputs and rear outputs and should have them pretty quick.
We have been shipping our empty Diy cases while we are waiting for outputs.
we are making between 15 to 20 cases a week. I can assemble 4 to 5 completes a day. Once i have shafts we will be catching up fast. Yes we should of gave longer ship times when demand picked up but at that time we where having no issues meeting those deadlines until we went from 5 orders a week to 25.
The np205 is due to demand people will not leave us alone about it so we are bringing in to production even though we where trying to get caught up on dana 300s first.
The buggy thing is not taking anytime away from the cases we work on them while the machines are running. Only one isna full customer build and we have a dedicated guy for that. The buggies have been around since before the cases.
Have any other questions let me know we take customer service very serious we have been trying every way possible to figure out output shafts. We are not at a point where we can afford to bring them in house or we would.

Thanks for the update, do you have a time frame for when you will be getting shafts in hand?

Novak claimed 1 to 2 weeks. Fingers crossed. We really want to get cases to our customers. The other guy making shafts supposedly his area got hit by a tornado taking out power all the power poles so who knows there. We put a lot of faith in him and he hasn't delivered yet. He was working on our doubler shafts our 2012+jk input.

Props for coming here and being transparent about the whole issue. Respect.
