Driving a manual is like fly fishing, a auto is like bait casting

Ive driven autos and manuals for almost 45 years. Driving an automatic Jeep is enjoyable like fishing and driving a manual Jeep sucks like like digging a hole with a shovel. Let somebody else have at it if you can.

Jeeps arent like sports cars where a manual transmission can make the drive more interesting and challenging.

Which one is more manly? And which one lets you do more manly things?

The info I have gathered is leading me to an aftermarket TC that's way lower geared than my 231 TC. I wish to stay with my 3 pedals. So, I think I'll need a lower gear in my TC than an auto equipped Jeep.

One is like piloting a race car, the other is like plowing a field with a tractor and steering column mounted throttle.
Done both. Like both. However, I wouldn't want to pilot a race car in a plowed field. Or plow a race track with a tractor. ;)

The steering column-mounted throttle frees up the foot to lock the diff or use the independent brakes to stay on my row. It also lets me run the PTO at the right speed without having to put someone in the seat if I'm using the tractor as a stationary power source.

Granted, I'm new to Jeeps, so I reserve the right to change my mind as I start using it more, but I went with a manual because that's what I can rebuild myself. I leave the autos to my transmission guy, and I pay him a lot more per hour than I pay my manual transmission feller.

In nearly 60 years of driving I've never needed to have an automatic transmission rebuilt.

You sorta missed the point that you are in control and have to drive one and the other you're just along for the ride and just have to remember to turn at the end of the row.

I wouldn't pick either based on what I could fix. I've sent enough of both out to get rebuilt I know that isn't a good criteria. To me, that is the same as avoiding a Rock Jock Dana 60 because you know how to set up gears in a Dana 44.
