What did you do to your TJ today?

Installed a new liftgate glass retainer from the Crown kit (55175042K).
Went to put on the weatherstrip but there’s a gap like the weatherstrip is too narrow. Old one fit tight in the new retainer.
Anyone know if it’s supposed to fit that way?

If it is short side to side, remove the first few inches of the double sided tape backing from each end, leave the tails hanging out the bottom. Stick one end then stretch the weather strip and stick the other end.

Pull the tape backing. I also used some 3m weather strip adhesive on the ends. And adjusted the glass for as good of a seal as I could get, still small holes of light in the bottom corners but much improved from what it was.

Nope not short length wise, it’s like it’s overall not as thick as the old weatherstrip. As seen in the pic there’s a gap in the groove that the weatherstrip sits in.

Todays little project. Went back and forth on wether or not this was going to look right, then decided to go for it. A couple of ugly Flux-core tack welds to hold it in place for now. I’ll clean it up and respray the whole bumper once I’m done. No interference from the winch line either. It’ll hit the stinger long before it touches the light.

Spent half the day polishing the ProComps. Time consuming but not terribly difficult. Only got to two of them before we had to leave for dinner. One was the spare rotated in and was looking good. I'll do the last one tomorrow. Maybe. It is supposed to be mid-80's so I should take advantage of that and install the TrekTop.

Started on the Dana 30/35 to 44 axle swap project. Never done this before, so I was a bit slow removing the old one. Just figuring out what needed to be removed and all that good stuff. The only real hard part was probably getting the old parking brake lines out of the bracket.

I’m not exactly rushing this project. I plan to stuff the Dana 44 in tomorrow morning when my brother-in-law can give me a second set of hands.

I may not even start on the front axle until next weekend. Or I’ll do it throughout the week after work little by little. It’s nice having another Jeep and another car I can use. So the TJ can sit here as in progress for as long as needed.

Still need to pick up another locker pump. And some miscellaneous airlines, connectors, etc... Probably replace the disc brake rotors & pads too on the new axles.
