What did you do to your TJ today?

Its been months since I touched the TJ due to having to finish up my part of the work on the MBR extension, but the blown radiator a couple of days ago got me back on to it. Today, I continued with the OBA project, getting the wiring hooked up. Turned into a slight adventure - due to my own doing. One of the very first things I did to this Jeep when I first got it 2+ years ago was install the switches, relays, and wiring for both an inverter (which I already had) and a compressor (which I didn't have). So when I connected the compressor to the + wire that I had pre-run to the ABS tray area, and installed its fuse, the compressor started running! WTF? Not only was the in-cab switch not on, but the key wasn't on either. Long story short: I had forgotten that I wired the inverter and compressor relays as LOW side switches - which explained the negative wire that was also in the ABS tray area. Complete brain fart - when I used *that* wire for the compressor (and pressure switch) negative, things now work like they're supposed to! Duh...

Compressor isn't too loud, until the engine is running. Then the increased voltage makes it run quite a bit louder and vibrate more. Hopefully that will settle down once its pumping into a closed system.

Next up is the in-cab pressure gauge and while I'm at it, a vacuum gauge as well. Then run a line to the tank and out to the back. Front air outlet already in place. Its so fucking hot here right now, that I'm not gonna really enjoy any of this...

What I did with mine today was make my own weather system inside the cab. At 77° ,foggy and 98% humidity this morning and the A/C on the non-recirculate setting, I made clouds come out of my vents for a couple minutes. 🤣

I shouldn’t have cracked an A/C joke. On the way home from work yesterday it went out. LOL. When I got home and looked at the low side valve core on the passenger side fender it was leaking/bubbling dye that was in the R-134a we added two years ago when the high side valve core did the same thing.

Stopped by my buddies today on the way home from work, changed both valves this time and he charged it all up for me. 🥶

After waiting 2.5 weeks and watching my 2 boxes skip across the US 🇺🇸 and then fly over the Pacific... they are here.

Now I just need some time to strip out the Tj 😂

Added head rests to my LJ’s rear seat.

Headrests came from a 2021 Ram 1500 rear seat via eBay. Ordered the mounting posts from Ram dealer. Had to fab/weld on some brackets to hold the posts to the seat frame. Headrests are stationary vertically but fold forward for better visibility out the back. They can be removed if necessary but don’t see a need to do so with them folding down. The height works fine for people about 5-9” and under. I could have mounted them taller but don’t expect tall folks to ride in back. Mostly for kiddos. Seat still tumbles most of the way forward, too, with just a little moving of the headrests as they contact the seat base/floor when folded forward. The cloth colors nearly matched the Bartact seat covers perfectly.

Been driving Sport to work this week and probably will next week. It is so relaxing to drive with the windows out of the Trektop even with the temp in the high 90's on the drive home. Traffic doesn't bother me and when I get home I'm even nice to the wife!!!!!!!

Would you please share details on the tank and gauge. I just finished installing the ARB compressor and haven't yet installed a tank or in-cab pressure gauge. For my setup, mounting the pressure gauge in the drivers side footwell would likely be best. I have the QR mounted on the front bumper.

Went up to Maine over the long weekend, found a nice off-roading trail nearby. Much nicer than anything I’ve found in CT

Also my fan got really loud during my drive home (like the Jeep wasn’t loud enough). Sounds like it did before I replaced my fan clutch, so maybe it went out again? I replaced it a year ago (Hayden 2771) so I would be surprised if that was the case. I was able to fix it by soaking it in pb blaster and spinning it which loosened it, but then it went back to how it was

Are you showing off your ability to NOT use your AC and drive in heavy traffic or how your wife is pissed you're late and bought her flowers or dinner? ;) 🇺🇸
p.s. Tomorrow is my 8 year anniversary. Feels more like 18. I was hoping she'd find a nicer, younger guy and move out, but they don't want to pay her credit card debt either.

Great job. I have the upper back from a JK mated to the TJ lower. The problem with that setup is I can't fold the rear seat like the stock one. :(

I know there are some that don't like BedRug, but I'm a big fan. I've had them in multiple Jeeps and they hold up well, clean up easily (from a dirt/mud perspective), and never get that damp musty smell. They only come in one color and the fit isn't perfect, but neither of those is bad enough that I wouldn't use it. FWIW, I've even run it in two trucks, for a total of more then 10 years. No complaints there either!
