Its been months since I touched the TJ due to having to finish up my part of the work on the MBR extension, but the blown radiator a couple of days ago got me back on to it. Today, I continued with the OBA project, getting the wiring hooked up. Turned into a slight adventure - due to my own doing. One of the very first things I did to this Jeep when I first got it 2+ years ago was install the switches, relays, and wiring for both an inverter (which I already had) and a compressor (which I didn't have). So when I connected the compressor to the + wire that I had pre-run to the ABS tray area, and installed its fuse, the compressor started running! WTF? Not only was the in-cab switch not on, but the key wasn't on either. Long story short: I had forgotten that I wired the inverter and compressor relays as LOW side switches - which explained the negative wire that was also in the ABS tray area. Complete brain fart - when I used *that* wire for the compressor (and pressure switch) negative, things now work like they're supposed to! Duh...
Compressor isn't too loud, until the engine is running. Then the increased voltage makes it run quite a bit louder and vibrate more. Hopefully that will settle down once its pumping into a closed system.
Next up is the in-cab pressure gauge and while I'm at it, a vacuum gauge as well. Then run a line to the tank and out to the back. Front air outlet already in place. Its so fucking hot here right now, that I'm not gonna really enjoy any of this...
