Have you guys noticed people in life that are a complete wreck- I mean completely ridiculous- and totally happy with their circumstances?

I have a second cousin who is surviving by living in a tent behind his parents and digging through dumpsters- This is a child that was the ringbearer at my wedding and had an absolutely golden upbringing-

He is always selling you on his success, he recently said “ I’ll try to leave things better than I found them like when I’m digging through a dumpster I clean up around it “. Even in prison his response was “I got this.”

Another case is a worker of mine- in

Rents a trailer with a basement - (not joking) - yard full of abandoned but once one owner cars , all near gifted to him, each one ran hot or transmission shot ( he rolls back and shifts into gear rolling )

The DHR has his kids taken, the only place in the last house they could play was where the doors swung it was so cluttered-

His finances are dismal despite his income

He wears his hat backwards and hair wild, and is just a walking train wreck of disorder-

Oh, and he has no problem doling out life and business advice, even has some good things to say - all the while unable to own a home, keep a vehicle going or get past living week to week, at an in income over 50k a year. And - is 100 percent sure he is doing well.

Have you guys seen this trait? Is this new?

And all this leads me to another point- Whatever happened to being able to take advice. Whatever happened to good old fashion criticism that made people want to change-

Everybody stresses to be positive and to be kind and to be gentle and everything else....I remember years ago people were told to get their act together and would often respond- not argue their wrongful position.

Is it me?

I wonder if the difference is that in all previous generations, the cycle was that with each new generation they tried to be more successful than the previous. And the older generation tried to set the younger generation up for success. But I’ve seen that’s been lost on the millennials. They’re not trying to be as or more successful as their parents. They’re “naval gazing” and virtue signaling in all that they do. Meanwhile they’ll have zero saved for retirement, not own a home and drift from job to job based on their immediate desires.

Very well said. I also think they have confused social media with real life.

The “not being able to say anything” gets me- no one is ever wrong.

My uncle (moms younger bro) is a real piece of work.

He's 55, never had a boss he wasn't smarter than (by his account...) And as a result has never held a real job. He's worked for himself a few times, but always lost interest or ran it into the ground before it ever became lucrative. Since his second divorce he's been living off my grandmother, who bought him a house and has been giving him $1500/mo out of my late grandfather's law enforcement pension. He managed to find a doctor and an ambulance chaser attorney to diagnose him with a 10 year old brain injury so he can collect disability. Talk to him though, and he's the smartest mother effer to ever live. He's always got the next world changing idea (but only an idea that he wants to be paid for despite lacking any know-how or ability to bring it to fruition) and he'd be a billionaire if he could find anybody that was smart enough to get it. His latest escapade is to take advantage of my grandmother's dementia, manipulating her to give him power of attorney. My mom cornered him into admitting his intent to steal her inheritance and decided to just let it go and not have him be a part of her life.

The sad part of it is that the entirety of the money he's ripping my mom off for is likely barely more than a years salary for me, but it's worth more to him than a relationship with the sister that spent her childhood shielding him from their fathers abuse. My dad did pretty well so they don't need the money; my mom feels like he's screwing me and my brother, and i hate seeing the pain she feels from her only brother being such a narcissistic prick.

Now this is my opinion, but I believe this is what happens to a society when people abandon God and start worshiping themselves. All roads lead to narcissism.

I know others will disagree with me but this is what I truly and honestly believe with every ounce of my being.

We may be related- this is sooooo typical. Sounds like my brother.

I would modify the theology and just say "Lose their spirituality, becoming materialistic", but I agree.

I have a Nephew who will be 32 this year. Still lives with Mama, despite 4 years in the Navy.

Why is it that some of these fuckers skate through life like that? Hell I’ve worked seventy hours a week forever and I’m starting to question my sanity. I work for stuff and things, and these folks get it for nothing.

In one sense they are way smarter than us...they are having a ball.

Plus they have tons of time to work the game, they sure ain’t workin’ on a job.

Chris,
Good post. This country was founded on righteous principles. People can say what they want, but America probably peaked morally about 1957.

God, or whatever term someone wants to use, has never abandoned America, America has forsaken divine guidance.

Show me any person with good spiritual values and you will see them do this, without having to be told:

- they will do honest work and fend for themselves as best they can.

- they will use the money they earn the right way. As in pay their own bills.

- they will not try to get money fraudently, which is basically taking it from others who worked harder than them.

- they will do the right thing in life and care for their families. They will usually not be so selfish they end up loners.

I also contend our abundance as a society makes all this possible- you can be pretty sorry and live great here.

All that said, I have been glared at and kicked under the table and everything else for speaking up- now days you are the bad guy for pointing this stupidity out.

I think thats a hallucination on ones part. Gotta keep on the ones who smile all the time they say. Misery is easy to hide for some, others not so much. My BIL is 53, has been arrested probably 15 times in the last 10 years. A few days ago again for gun posession while posessing drugs and a probation violation. Happy as a lark he is,not a cre in the world as he goes off to prison this time for 2-3+ years. Guess he likes butt ramajamma's. Down inside Id bet he is ready to pull the trigger on life.

The other thing that people like this tend to do is always speak truth, even if it offends people.

I agree with everything you said. This country already reached its peak morally, now we are on the decline. This is what happens when everyone is a relativist, a nihilist, etc.

It must be. I’ve wondered if it just the ego protecting itself.

To me the most important part of being miserable is it makes you want to change.

Ah, but everything is relative. Ask Einstein. I've never held with absolutism or absolutists, although I suspect we're in a semantic quandary more than actual disagreement. I also don't particularly care for the word "Morality", but there again I think its more semantics than actual disagreement.

I can say that I do all these things and no kind or religion has anything to do with it.

I have a policy with my guys-

If you want extra money, you can work whatever you choose over the weekend - and not only are you paid extra, you get paid Monday- everyone always shows up monday.

So I take the cash to this guys place- and I see nice company tools scattered in the yard-

His instability means constantly shuffling tools, showing up unprepared and all manner of uh ohs.

I was like “ get every tool to the shop monday”. My point is store them there, whatever...but we ain’t leaving tools out in the rain and scattering them.

Good grief.

And he is a skilled worker, or would not be here.
