Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

That's a pretty sweet rig, Rick. Been looking around the 'net for more of them, and there aren't that many out there, and they are concentrated on the West Coast. Anything Host makes anymore is pickup campers.

Yep,
They are pretty rare and when you can find one they sell FAST. The other one that was For Sale recently near me in Oregon was sold to someone from PA. They flew out to pick it up.

Host only made these motorhomes for a few years. Haven't been able to nail down the exact years but it seems like 2007-2009. Not as rare as your motorhome but they do attract attention when you stop.

Does yours have the rear bedroom?

hows things boss? not heard much from you in a bit..

My leg finally healed up and I was ready to get back at working on the Jeep but then was waiting for some paint product to arrive. Now it's too damn HOT to paint since all my activator is either Fast or Medium. But it's supposed to cool off here at the end of the week so I can start painting again then.
Plus, I'd been a little preoccupied with my new toy. Had some things I needed to fix on the motorhome but it's all good now.

been hot here too, upper 80's to mid 90's. the humidity is the worst part of it.
been tryin to work early and late unless there is some cloud cover, but the winds been slowin me down the last wk or so.

the camper looks awesome. i wish i had the balls to buy 1.............me and her would roll around and work on some jeeps for grocery and gas $.

what about painting in the eve once it cools down some? would you have time for it to flash b4 the nighttime dew starts?

It's 103* right now but supposed to cool down to the mid 80's Thursday. It was still in the 90's at midnight last night. I'll just wait for it to cool off. I'm going rig shopping during the day tomorrow. Since I traded my truck in I need a rig as a DD now. Looking for either a SUV or short bed truck. But want to keep it under $10K.

I hope once the Jeep is running, and all the bugs worked out I'll hit the road in it and come visit some of you all.

we'll have to find a spot 1/2 way for both of us.

103 holy crap .

I plan on hitting all the spots I've read about for the last 40+ years. So, I will be somewhere close by, I think.

Yep 103* but suppose to cooldown, I hope.

Well I should have paid more attention to everyone saying they wished that they would have gotten twice as much paint as they had.
I got 3/4 of the frame painted and ran out.

So I need to order at least 2 more quarts. But I'll get 3 quarts just to be sure.
Damn

I've got some runs in a few spots but this was great experience for when I shoot the White. It goes on a lot different than the primer.

Best to start on the stuff that doesn't show, and runs are a common problem. The trick is to not allow yourself to be in a hurry. This is truly a case of slow and steady wins the race. Great job so far Rick!

Looks good so far, Rick. That will last too.

Thanks Jeff.

I'm nervous as heck about spraying the White but I can always sand down the runs if I get any. Actually I more worried about the clear. I'll start prepping the armor that's getting painted in White tomorrow. Sand and then clean and wipe down. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks Jeff.

Clear is no different and can be wet sanded smooth. Don't stress and enjoy the learning experience. The great news is you can't screw up anything that can't be fixed!

I always struggle with clear. I always get gun shy about runs, so I put it on to thin and get orangepeel. Last time I painted clear, I wanted to make SURE i didn't get orange peel. We all know what happened when I did the jeep...I had Niagara falls on the front quarter. Clear is the bane of my painting existance!
