I ordered a Performance radiator heater core for my 05 LJ based on the info in this forum. First one I received was the wrong part. Finally got the correct part for my Jeep and it’s a made in china brand called “Reach. “. So it says on the box. Quality appears awful and it was already damaged in the box. Just going to send this back and take my chances having the OEM unit repaired. Anyone used a “reach” heater core?

Well that's disappointing to say the least. I wonder if the same is true for the early models (1997-2001)? I was planning on buying a heater core from Performance Radiator...

Most aftermarket radiators are junk, you have to be careful when buying them. Ask for recommendations here, and most will be for the Mopar which is unfortunately getting harder and harder to find.

The OP is referring to the heater core. The OE cores were made by Valeo and have long been discontinued, unfortunately. :(

My wife was just going nuts with the 1-2 palmetto bugs per week we were finding belly-up on our floors. They were already dead from the residual bug treatment chemicals from the previous owners. She'd shriek and scream for me like there was an alligator in the house lol. I ended up having to sign up with Terminix to get rid of them.

I hate to think what sound she'd make if there were actually an alligator in your house?

And you will still find the occasional Palmetto bug (dead), "where-ever".

Seems virtual impossible to find a quality replacement heater core anymore. I’ve got access to a reputable radiator shop that will repair the OEM core… if repairable. I have two used OEM cores so I figure that’s probably the best route to go.

Best of luck to you.
I had my OEM core "repaired" at a local radiator shop. It leaked again within hours after installing it...

I disconnected the heater lines again as a short-term solution. This happened back in April and I'm still without heat...
My long-term solution was to buy the core from Performance Radiator... :cautious:

My heater core is currently bypassed. I am waiting for the day when a good quality heater core comes to market. It is just way too much work to gamble with the current offerings.

For what it’s worth, I replaced the heater core in my grandma’s 2002 Cherokee almost four years ago with a “Spectra Premium” aluminum core. Yeah I know, it’s made in China, but it works like it should. No leaks, keeps the cab nice and toasty when she needs it.
