What did you do to your TJ today?

After finishing my Dana 44 swap, I was hearing a rubbing sound from the passenger side rear tire. After all the troubleshooting I found that my axle shaft is bent. So put it back together so I could roll it out of the garage and park it on the street. Ordered some upgraded strengthen shafts.

You can rebuild it.

Located my axle gearing tag while cleaning up a pile of trash from all my Jeep projects. I didn’t pay any attention to it when I installed new differential covers and fresh gear oil. From the looks of the tag I have a 2.5L with 4.10 gears which I had no clue but I can say I’m happy that I found it buried under a pile of scrap metal and parts from my Jeep lol

I worshipped this man at age 10- Lee Majors , Col. Steve Austin. I had nearly every toy they sold. In real life he was married to Farrah Fawcett. I would have given 6 million for that set up. I just thought, how on earth can any one have that great a life?

We should make bracelets and sell them at the Forum Mercantile.

After nearly losing mom, who is doing pretty good now, Dad has been going downhill terribly fast. They divorced 33 years ago so it is 2 different worlds-

After running errands and lining out Caleb on his house , I drove the Tj over this pm to Dads ( I’d loaned out my F250 and work trailer to Caleb to help with building his first house so I drove the TJ all day) ... checked on Dad, washed 2 of his cars and just stayed close to him. It has been immensely rewarding. My feelings are a whole other thread.

The TJ got a little love while I was at it -and yes that is Dawn- his cars had been parked under pines. Car tire is low but not as flat as it looks....

Check out the coil spring tail on the pig at a local BBQ joint - people drive from the edge of the state to eat here- the owner gave me my second job at 17.

I’m here for you dawg. Your positivity and zest of life is contagious. Your ability to acknowledge life’s simple beauties is infectious. Keep up the good work sir, You’re doing it right!

Thanks man- being with Dad this evening has really given me time to slow down and reflect- I know I don’t know everything or even much, but as I’ve gotten older there are some things that I’ve grown to feel sure about.

- We aren’t here long. Not long enough to be miserable for sure. Why in the world, given one shot, would we not want to make the most of it or mess it up? Constantly correct. Know the target is a genuine smile.

- We are in it together. We need each other. In every way. There is no escaping this. I know some people are hard to like, deal with , etc- we don’t need everyone, but we need the ones we need, and we need to be there for those that need us. We are here to serve others. Most real, enduring satisfaction and wealth comes from that. Drop the vampires and losers.

- I nearly drowned once. My immediate thought when I was on dry land and safe was how beautiful the world was. It was as if I’d never seen it before. I have never let myself forget it. There is a saying - “compared to what we should be we are barely awake” that has always stuck with me - I’ve come to realize it means we need to wake up, look up from the phone, and engage with life- it is happening right now, all the time, all around us. Nothing ever happened in the past or will happen in the future- all happened and will happen only in the present. Save for retirement, but live now. While many are waiting for some magic to be handed to them on a silver platter , flowers bloom, birds sing, the sun rises in splendor, acts of kindness happen and thousands of wonderful moments take place.

- there is no “happy “ plane of existence where people live with pure joy 24/7 - we acclimate- if we were happy all the time happy would become normal and we would have no happy moment to look forward to- it is the sadness we lose that makes joy so special. All that said, we can work at, foster and train ourselves to be helpful, positive, cheerful and optimistic. And don’t kid yourself- those things affect outcomes, and outcomes affect happiness.

- Material things aren’t evil. They are great. “Anyone who says money can’t buy happiness doesn’t know where to shop”- Lovey Howell, Gilligans Island. It is how you go about getting them and how you handle it when you do.
This forum revolves around material objects. And we love it. Some sayings like material things are evil are just ignorant lies. People that say things like that usually don’t have much.

I know I’m getting too philosophical on here and all this needs to go to off topic or be dropped. And I also realize I try to come across as the guy with the great attitude all the time.....And I do want to lift people up. To balance it out , in person, I despise losers, takers, mooches and sorry people who get by by doing less, cheating, lying and stealing (hours at work, property, value in any way ) and am pretty vocal about it . I see people create and live miserable lives that affect their children, their families, other good people and they just blunder on.

When little kids see my jeep and like it, my line is , “hey buddy, that home work you have to do doesn’t get you one - but not going out to play , sitting there and getting that homework done when you don’t really want to....THAT will get you a jeep like this and anything else.”

We are really a country of winners. I hope we never lose that.
