So I bought a Jk for the 1st time. With minimal prior research; the 3.6 was my only real qualifier, and decent history / condition of course. I'll spare you the challenges since buying it, glad i still have my trusty TJ in the driveway, haha. But seriously, even trying to 'Search' topics on the JK forum is SO different. The "New Posts", always totally different than TJ; to be expected, but also seems there are not many old schoolers there, maybe they just don't play on the internet..

I just need a f'n tie rod by Monday; shit, damn. ☮️

I don’t really even bother with the JK forum unless I need help installing stickers on my windows. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy my JK, but with each iteration of jeep a chunk of the jeep spirit goes with it.

Or maybe we’re just old and don’t recognize/admit that the jeep spirit is still there, it just changed while we stayed the same.

But dang those people do not work on their own jeeps and it’s annoying.

My JK is currently being held hostage by the dealer.... It's been there since February waiting on a new ABS control module... apparently they're out of them nationwide. But other than computer chip issues I do all the work on it myself.

Early JK 2D Sports are getting real cheap now. Good candidates for motor swaps.

I think it would be cool to have the 3.6L in a TJ, but the JK electrical and computer system is a nightmare... going forward in the future I plan on moving farther and farther away from using any computer chips in my builds. If we go to war with China or something, after a year or two, almost every modern car will be down hard needing something simple that just can't be had no matter how much money you wave around.

I had two JKs. Wrenched on them myself. To me, they are cars not Jeeps. JL even more.
I got tired of stopping at a light with half a dozen JKs, most with soccer mom's driving. They are the same ones I see around town with the hard top and doors on, windows buttoned up and the AC on. And forget the wave... One in ten will wave and never will they initiate. I've all but given up waving unless it's heavily modified with kit other than a grill, hood mounted hi-lift or light cubes.

I remember the forum activity.. All cosmetic stuff. The hardcore folks were never on the forum.

I’m sure the knowledge is there somewhere, guess I’m going to have to be real patient with every step. Heck, I’d just like to finally get it off jack stands..

nobody has JK tie rods? i don't use JK parts and made my own from tube and offset TRE's.

have you tried facebook marketplace?

I feel you, my brother has a JK.
I don't even know why they have JK forums, 90% of responses to any issues they post are "take it to a dealer, its still under warranty" and 90% of solutions to the issues are "ohh i dont know man, i took it to a dealer"

On the local FB group every single post about any issue is met with a knee-jerk set of responses about taking it to one of the 3 main 4x4 shops. Then maybe me and one other guy (who probably also owns a TJ) will chime in about offering to help fix or at least properly diagnose. It's kinda sad.

Our Forum- “Hey guys ,I’m doing a regear and tummy tuck this weekend , who knows the bolt size for the skid plate....”

Jk Forum- “ is anyone else having a trouble getting those angry looking grills, mine has been on backorder since soccer season started🙁

Our Forum has so much testosterone, it has caused several young members to go through early puberty.
