Dudes, this JK thing...

Let me guess, NTJC?? I despise that group. And you are absolutely right, everybody’s answer to anything is just where to take it. The average IQ level of that group is “Moron”.

It's maddening, although if you really pressed me on it I'm not sure I could explain why. What do I care if you want to overpay for all your repairs. You might not have the tools or expertise, or even the space to do it. Or maybe you value your time more than I do, or you just hate doing that sort of work. It's really none of my business. It just doesn't feel very "jeepy" I guess. But clearly the masses have spoken, and those shops have a steady train of customers. Maybe I'm the moron.

Although I've actually made a few friends by just responding to a "need to replace my thermostat, how many thousands of dollars should I set aside for Dallas Offroad to do it?" with a simple offer to bring it over and we'll replace it in my driveway for $20.

I think it is maddening simply because the people asking the questions are usually not looking for the best shop to take it to, so the people offering that suggestion really are not helping and are just making things worse. Then for someone like you or me who thinks that is a ridiculous answer, it's just extra maddening. I don't like seeing others time wasted on their own posts due to stupid input from others whether the input is unhelpful or just plain incorrect data. Either way I'm with you, I hate those responses. I don't think we are the morons. Honestly I stay away from that group. I am in it, but with all notifications turned off, no access to my timeline, etc. I don't really ever click on that group myself, so I practically see nothing from it anymore. I do agree that those who want to pay a shop, fine, but telling others to is where it gets me.

Lol I like that paraphrase. It is quite accurate. They have their fair share of customers but good riddance, those folks sure do overpay to go there. Not only do they overpay, but then they tell all the others what a great experience they had while overpaying. Mindblowing. I would offer the same assistance to others that you do if I were on there more (and had the time - I'm finding my spare time to help others seems to diminish as the years go by and I get busier).

I do let it fill up my feed, it's honestly better than any other content on FB. I attended an event at Gas Monkey right after I got my JK and I have a sticker on my windshield. I could take it off but whatevs. I did make the mistake of asking for some troubleshooting help with my transmission. I don't think I realized at that time that those people literally only want to drive their jeeps and take pictures of themselves climbing in upside down.

The transmission problem? Glad you asked. Consistently getting a P06DD although it does go off from time to time. It's a code for oil pressure related, but root causes are unclear. Some people say it's the sender under the intake, or the wiring there. Others say it's the oil pump. And others say they had the dealer replace all that and they still have the code. The symptom is that occasionally (not all that often really, but often enough) I won't be able to get over ~3k rpm no matter how much gas I give it. Only when I let off the throttle will it upshift and then everything is fine. It's like a temporary safe mode or something. Then other times I can stomp on the gas and get it to 5k RPM w/o issue. Short of reading that one code, I don't know how to diagnose it any further. Maybe my reader isn't good enough?

Umm not me, maybe you?? :ROFLMAO::love:

BURN!

My JK is currently being held hostage by the dealer.... It's been there since February waiting on a new ABS control module... apparently they're out of them nationwide. But other than computer chip issues I do all the work on it myself.

In case it’s helpful, I replaced the ABS control module (circuit board) to my ABS assembly in my ‘96 GM truck.

Got an assembly at a wrecking yard for $90…simply changing the circuit board cleared my abs light. Didn’t need to replace the entire assembly where the different hard lines tie in (I was stoked).

Hopefully this is an option for you.

If we go to war with China or something, after a year or two, almost every modern car will be down hard needing something simple that just can't be had no matter how much money you wave around.

Taiwan (TSMC) is currently the golden goose for chips and why the US will do all it can to prevent a Chinese takeover.

Neither China nor the US wants the other to effectively take control of those plants, but neither wants them to be destroyed.

So (afaik) business continues as usual.
