A neighbor asked if my Jeep was for sale this morning

We had a Gladiator in or Moab group for a day. He had to bypass a couple of obstacles on Hell's Revenge because of his length. His rear bumper would bury in the sand when he got the front wheels up and the rear wheels couldn't get to the rocks.

But it was a stock Rubicon JT and still did okay. I still like my unlimited better, but it's a personal preference, so I'm biased.. Lifted Gladiators with larger tires make them look better, in my opinion.

Gladiators need 37’s or more

Agreed, but 35's do very well out on the trails too...

I'm also in the camp that the 2 Jeeps are good for different things, and would probably not sell either... but both are 1 owner Jeeps purchased new by us.

Sell it - you can always buy another one later if you want

I'm retired and on a limited budget. I honestly believe I wouldn't be able to pick up another one, especially as unmolested as this one. That's why the neighbor asked about it. He doesn't want a lifted jeep as he's retired and doesn't want to climb into a high vehicle.

After sleeping on it, I don't think I can let it go. The tj rubicon has always been on my want list, which my wife reminded me.

That's a choice you won't have any regrets about. (y) I sold my 03' Rubicon because I needed the cash at the time. I got lucky and bought it back two years later for $5,000 less than I sold it for. The guy only drove it 1200 miles and it just sat in his garage and got cleaned a lot. I've had it for 2 years since then and don't plan on making that mistake twice.

MY observations after 50 years of buying & selling 37 vehicles, most of them SOME sort of rare/collector/specialty vehicles, including 5 Jeeps:
1). When it comes to (possibly) "replacing" a vehicle that you are considering selling "later on down the road" if you find you're missing it, that's usually MUCH easier said than done. Even with the TJ (or maybe ESPECIALLY with the TJ), although they made damned close to "A Blue Million" of 'em, just TRY and find one even NOW that hasn't been tinkerf*cked with to the point of unrecognizability from what it was in stock configuration, rolled/crashed/reconstructed Title, rust bucket, etc. And just LQQK at all the TJ's that, if they ARE worthy of purchase consideration, are IMMEDIATELY snapped up by some manner of "Car Dealer" or another, after which said "Dealer" smoozes it with a bucket of ArmorAll and then adds a hefty $ premium for his "troubles".
2). Again in the case of TJ's, they are still "appreciating" $-wise, so even if you sell yours at the "F*ck You Price" (As in: I just threw a STEWPIT $ number at you and you accepted it), if/when you realize the error of your ways, then YOU will likely have to BUY your next TJ for...you guessed it - "The F*ck You Price"...

I bought my 2004 Columbia Edition in 2018 after literally SCOURING every Internet nook & cranny I could find, and I'm talking HOURS & HOURS of searching - Geez, I even turned up Jimmy Hoffa's body before I found it, LOL! I had ZERO location parameters too - musta paid $1K for others to examine several of them from afar on my behalf, and burned a sh*tpile of FF miles going to look at several others...

Mine will be "For Sale" when one of two things happens - after I'm dead and my wife is faced with the task of disposing of all my crap (which she'll prolly souvenir it to her nephew instead of selling it), or when ICE vehicles become illegal to drive on American roads. Meanwhile, it's paid for, it don't take up much space in its own garage, it's relatively easy to work on MYSELF, and it's cheap to insure and register. Oh yeah - ever' time I drive it I gloat at how GREAT it drives, rides, steers, handles, and stops, with ZERO of the issues I read about others having with theirs. Now pardon me while I go out and just stare at it with love & adoration; plus it's time to clean the console out of the 5-6 rubber ducks I've accumulated over the last few years...

Thanks. Exactly what I thought after sleeping on it. I'll never find another one in as good of shape as this one with out paying a premium for it. I have a clean one and I'm going to keep it. Going to take it out today to the trails that I frequent and do some more exploring and a little shooting. I still get a little kick everytime I look at it. Thanks for the kick in the pants. It's great to have this forum as a sounding board.

So I was moving my tj out on the street today to hook up our travel trailer to take to the dealer for some warranty work and was approached by a neighbor down the street. He's looking for something to pull behind his motor home. It's a 05 Rubicon and pretty much unmolested. I was just planning on putting the 2" budget boost on and have all the parts in the garage. I'm retired and the tj is mostly for exploring the local trails around South East Arizona. I have a 22 Gladiator for pulling the travel trailer and for light trails when we travel. Since I have the gladiator now, I'm just thinking about only having to service one vehicle and save a little on insurance. I do have a loan on the tj and that would save a little money too. I just don't think I'll ever be able to replace it. If I take the tj to moab, I have to camp on ABB which is costly. The gladiator can do moderate trails and I can pull the camper where ever we go. Just a rant I guess.

Sell the tj and modify the gladiator

Sell the tj and modify the gladiator

The gladiator pulls our 26' travel trailer and may get 33" Rubicon take offs and a level kit, and possibly air bags. It was never meant to be built into a high dollar trail rig. It's for exploring easy to moderate trails at our camping destination's.

It will still pull the trailer and do tougher trails with 37s
