If I had the money...

That's is nice...the best ideas are usually the simplest lol...I don't own a hardtop but make me wonder if you could just buy the windows from the company and retro fit to an existing hardtop...??

The price doesn’t seem that bad for what you get. I still see tops out here priced from $1,000-$1,500 (for a 10-20 year old top). To get a new top with side opening windows for $1,900 doesn’t seem that bad.

I saw some used factory ones on craigslist for over 2K in AZ.

I've seen these before, they're really cool. In all reality, considering that a used factory hard top goes for about $1200 here in the PNW, that price isn't that unreasonable I suppose.

The question is, how much do they gouge you for shipping something that massive?

I’d guess $200-$300.

I just had a guy stop me at the bank to ask me what a hardtop would go for, he said his brother inlaw left a ht from an 03 at his house....he was going to list on CL for $150...I told him that I had no interest in ever having one and would pull the 150 out of my pocket right there and buy it. I think I finally convinced him to list it at least at $900

I am on the fence with the hard top. It is nice to be able to lock it for sure, and the quietness is nice, but there is nothing like the rustic feel of an old soft top jeep. Mine even has the plastic windows. The coolio thing is my girlfriend just bought a 2000 TJ that came with a hard top, so we can swap tops if I really want to. So say we are taking my Jeep on a vacation. We can slip the hard top on for that weekend. But if she didn't have it, I am not sure I would actually buy one.

In fact I am considering putting flat fenders on my TJ, for the old rustic look.

One of my favorite things about the TJ is that it is still retro looking, but has some modern conveniences such as air conditioning and comfort.

I have profound hearing loss. Even in the hardtop I struggle to hear/understand what the wife is saying as we drive. I really could not handle the noise that comes either with the soft top or no top. Plus that hard top is great in the winter when the snow is on the ground. To each his own.
