could you rename this forum the savvy/currie tj forum? there sure are a lot of hater’s here if you don’t see things they’re way. i have a full metalcloak 3.5” suspension and i really like it so far. durability? we shall see. if my metalcloak control arm bushings crap out they can be replaced. aren’t johnny joints rebuildable? replace or rebuild, to each their own.

You ever wonder why this stuff goes the way it does. There is a monstrous difference between being a hater and being someone who has the barest modicum of critical thinking skills to sift through a mountain of bullshit in the form of marketing. Personally, I do not care what you run, just don't piss down the back of my shirt and try to convince it is just raining a little. And therein lies the problem.

so you’re damning metalcloak yet your profile says you’re running metalcloak rock sport shocks? LMFAO!

I never said anything about their shocks.
I got their shocks for a good deal and I looked up information on them and no one had any info. I decided to be the Guinea pig. It turned out they ride soft any way better than my previous bilstein shocks.

I also dam rough country but I have their motor mount spacer lift.

You’ve missed the point entirely.

It doesn’t matter what name is on the control arms or suspension components. The point that so many here are trying to make (and this is prevalent in many other threads as well) is that control arms do not affect ride quality at the lift heights we are dealing with. When someone gets on here and makes a statement like this (that X brand or control arms dramatically improved their ride) they are falsely leading others to believe that certain control arms are going to provide a better ride.

I don’t care if they are Currie, Savvy, Metalcloak, or whatever other brand, control arms do not affect ride quality unless your existing ones are shot behind belief. So again, it’s a false statement. The mind is a powerful thing. If you spend thousands of dollars on something you are already biased into thinking it’s going to give you exactly what you were expecting from it.

The reason Metalcloak is despised by many is because part of their brand includes deceptive marketing and blatantly false claims. Now you can believe those claims or not and that makes no difference to me. But what others are trying to do in so many of these Savvy versus Metalcloak threads is to make others aware that Metalcloak is again using deceptive marketing tactics which so many people are throwing around as if they are actually true.

No one here cares what lift you or anyone else is running. What we care about is when people mislead others with false claims. The original poster believes that he’s getting a better ride from his new control arms, when in fact control arms do not affect ride quality in this case (unless his original arms were completely shot).

Stop being so defensive about all this. Myself and so many others are not on a team, nor are we making any money from suggesting one brand over another. Savvy doesn’t market at all because they don’t have to. Savvy doesn’t claim anything about the Johnny Joints. They don’t hype up the use of Kevlar (another marketing scam) in them as if it’s supposed to be some magical material that changes the game.

What is all boils down to is what the modern left likes to talk about so much…misinformation.

Run whatever arms you want, just don’t claim they improve ride quality and understand that Metalcloak makes some very boisterous claims.

You worded it better than I did of course. It amazes me how some people can get so defensive over this subject and resort to almost infantile behavior by invoking the “Savvy vs Metalcloak” fanboy defense.

Single or double shear does not change how the bolt works.

I understand, like you said these discussions can turn into a shit show. Thanks for your consideration, we will talk later.😜

In 2014 I purchased MC alum arms for their articulation and rubber and I needed the adjustability.
Never expected any improvement in ride comfort...
I know there are other items that have dramatic effects on ride comfort. (ie: shocks, springs, tires) to mention a few.

I copied and pasted this from a RAM forum I frequent. They got into the same conversation over there too. I'll just repost it here.

"I own a jeep rental company. I typically run around 6 jeeps in the fleet and over the past couple of years I have tried OEM control arms, Metalcloak control arms, and RockJock (johnny joint) control arms. At one time I had 2 of each (OEM/MC/JJ) type of control arm... I have a very unique perspective because I have 6 identical jeeps... except for 1 component...
All jeeps are 2020 and newer, all jeeps are spec'd identical, all jeeps are running fox 2.0 IFP, all jeeps have the same size tire, and brand (falken wildpeak MT) all at approx the same mileage (between 10-25k miles). Same weight, same tops, same options. Its as close to a clinical study as you could possibly get.

I can tell you, beyond a shadow of a doubt... the joint makes absolutely no difference in terms of noise and vibration/harshness. I could take any member of this forum, put them into the different jeeps back to back for a drive, and no one here could tell me which control arms they were using. I'm sorry its not what you want to believe.

Its just marketing hype."

It's lazy thinking. And not even that interesting of a battle after a while.

here’s what i know about control arms. they keep shit where they belong, just like a track bar does. here’s what i know about springs. they provide ride height. here’s what i know about shocks. they provide ride quality or lack there of. i do not believe control arms offer any ride quality unless you’re replacing ragged wore out junk. i knew the op was opening a can of worms from the get go with this claim whether metalcloak was mentioned or not. i did not purchase my metalcloak suspension due to any of their claims. i did a lot of looking into several different suspensions before i decided to roll the dice with metalcloak. as a fairly new to tj’s person my goal is to build a rig that’s done with quality parts. i read way more than i comment on this great forum and am strictly here looking for knowledge. as i already stated i knew this thread was going to be a shit show the minute metalcloak was mentioned no matter the op’s claim. i fully knew that my comment on a forum name change would spark a reaction and no harm was intended. the one fact i know is this is savvy/currie territory and one will be chastised by many for speaking ill of either or for praising anything but. i’ll get back to soaking up knowledge and stop poking the bear so to speak.

I agree

You can’t even really have the conversation because people become extremely defensive which sometimes devolves into ad hominem. I get it though, people want to feel good about what they bought, especially when it’s a big purchase. I wish there was a better way to go about it. More importantly, I wish people were willing to be educated without becoming defensive.
