That reminds me of the scene in a movie where a woman sat down on a freshly shellacked toilet seat....

So they had to call the paramedics and she was indecent and they put a cowboy hat over her lap

The guy came in andsaid “ well we can save you mam, but the cowboy’s a goner”

Did he weld straps of steel on, or pad the whole area with weld bead?

5 layers of 1/8” strap. The picture I posted earlier had 3 layers to build it back to “stock”. There are now two more layers acting as a skid to protect the lower bolts.

We tried this previously using mig and most of the welds let go at the cast. Did a ton of pre heating/maintaining heat on the pumpkin this time and used tig and some special rod meant for cast/steel.
