STICKY Jeep Wrangler TJ Factory Service Manuals (FSM) & Technical Documentation

Ok team, do we have a collective opinion on what to do about errors in the FSM? Leave them as-is? Correct them & re-publish new versions? Insert inline pages with corrected info? Add an errata section at the end and then note references to errata inline? Some other approach?

The '97 version has a section of the valve body exploded diagram incorrect and will affect performance (ask me how I know). This is a quick hack on how page 21-115 looks in the FSM vs how it's supposed to be. I'm sure this is not the only instance of something we know to be flat out incorrect.

How about a sub-category under FSM category for "FSM errors?"
I'm not sure we can or should modify the FSM, but when things like this are discovered it would be very beneficial to document it so it isn't lost and we keep repeating the same mistakes....

@Chris ?

Actually in this case the smarter move would be for me to make a sticky thread in this section (and link to it in the very first post of this thread) that highlights all the errors people have discovered in the FSM. If someone compiles that info I can make this happen (y)

Maybe we could put out the call in the main forum for known FSM issues? Sticky it for a few weeks or something, then compile, organize, and distill it into something consumable over here? Happy to help with the effort.

Not a bad idea! I’ll get to it shortly.

This post is for TJ documentation like Factory Service Manuals Etc..
A while back I was able to find the FSM for my 2006 TJ. I decided to look at the same website I have used to download FMS to see if I can find others. I hit the jackpot so I am sharing :beer-toast1:

Please if there are any issues or they are inaccurate let me know.

Thanks @UpperMI for the additional 2002 manuals

Hey! :)

So I downloaded the 2000-2001 Service Manual for my 2001 TJ (thank you!) but then got really confused because the wiring diagrams weren't making sense, as some of the wire colors weren't matching what I had.

After some research, I discovered that that particular manual only has the model 2000 wiring diagrams, and that the wiring diagrams for 2001 model specifically (and a few other 2001 TJ specific things) are in a separate supplemental 509-page manual ... which I managed to download from another source, and TRIED to upload here so you could add it to the collection, but it says the file is "too big" ... which makes no sense because it's smaller than the one I downloaded from you 😐

So I don't know what's going on there

Anyway, here is the link to the supplement, if you want to try to download it and add it to the collection :)

@JeepNWilly I have three 05 manuals that aren't on your list (power train, body, and Chassis) How can I send them to you for upload?

I saw a parts list for the 1997 TJ, but no Factory Service Manual.... I have a Haynes but a Factory manual would be nice, because the Haynes covers all TJs. Is there much difference between the 1997 and the 1998 TJs?

Thanks for what is already there.....And Thanks in Advance for replying to this.

The 97 service manual is there, second row from the bottom and second from the right.

Thank you, JeepNWilly and flyinfish.... I deserve a lashing with a limp noodle....That is what I get for not looking at the entire list...In my defense, when the year numbers started going up from '97, I quit looking after I got to 2004.....

Downloaded and saved.....
