What did you do to your TJ today?

I found a used engine across town and decided to just pull my old engine and swap the new one in. Spent more for the hoist than the engine. I need to get some chain today but everything else is off the old motor and it’s ready to pull. The motor mounts and the bolts to the bell housing is all that I have left to remove but the shorter days are always a factor when working outdoors

Went with a local group up a trail called Denver Creek on Sunday. Used to be a heavy flow creek for a silver mine, I guess. LOTS of rocks and logs. Only had to get pulled over about 3 spots. 2 high centers and a waterfall that a stock Sport TJ on 31s was not getting over without a winch cable. I asked my son to send me the pics and he said "what pics? I was too busy watching what was going on." 🤨 Overall I felt pretty good about it. I kept my side steps on when the other TJ on 33s sacrificed his to the rock gods. I did get to use my winch a few times so now it's not just a decoration on the front

Resting spot after a long run of river rock.

I loaned my tree strap to help recover a few folks that had issues at a particular spot on the trail (including me). We got to the top and I asked who had it and got a bunch of blanks stares, so my son and I had to run the bottom of the trail again to go find it. Yup there it was still saving that tree. Fortunately, that was the first really hard spot so not too big of a deal going back to get it.

Gee I bet that pissed off some kids ..
Where I grew up, people were putting needles and razor blades in candy and apples. I always gave the apples back by smashing them against their house.😬
p.s. My mom had to spend hours examining our candy to make sure it was safe to eat. I usually only ended up with half of my total haul. Must have been a lot of "bad candy". Mom always packed on 20lbs from Halloween thru Christmas.

If you lived closer, I would have taken you up on your offer to do my axle u-joints/ball joints and paid you $400. You've done a lot of stuff on your Jeep, when most people would have sold it and moved on. My mechanic can't do them for another week and a few local shops wouldn't use my Spicer parts and want $1200-1450 to do the job. Makes me wish I never moved into this shit condo with HOA rules. My neighbors do all their vehicle repairs late at night when I'm leaving for work at 1am.

It’s all good man I was just trying to be a good fellow jeeper lol after a few more rebuilds I’ll be able to change my badge to TJ Guru. The joys of owning a turd that you love lol but I’m only an hour away give or take if you do ever need a hand 👍🏻

Whoever decides to buy an engine hoist from advanced auto I hope you’re pretty handy with a welder and cut off wheel. The outriggers wouldn’t fit into the base right so the bolt holes wouldn’t line up and the upright supports didn’t line up either so I had to cut some off the outriggers and then weld the supports to the upright. $380 worth of hoist here folks lol

I was also able to get the body mount bolt from the grill out with some acetone and atf plus heat. Came out with some channel locks. Then I worked on stripping the new engine down and degreasing everything and getting it all cleaned up for the swap. Thankfully the weather looks pretty good all week and weekend so maybe I’ll have it running by the end of the week
