American Iron Offroad Balljoint Deletes

No, they are "for" those who didn't build a big enough front axle for their tire size.
Agreed. So many things are, chromoly axles, selectable hubs, trusses, gussets, 35 spline lockers, and ahem... big brake kits ;). To be fair, i bought JK axles before this forum existed so I didn't know any better and I already spent $450 on rare parts balljoints, which so far have greatly outlived spicer balljoints. I think some grace is warranted for people really wheeling on Dana 44's because a lot of us didn't know any better and want to wheel with big boys and at the same time gain skills to eventually build the correct axle size for the tire size. Like I know now when i redo my axles with real axles, I'll be going 40's. When i first bought my jeep i was like, well i wont be really rock crawling, 35's are as big as I will ever want to go. Now i freaking love rock crawling!

I'm going to give Josh's BJE's a try on my JK axle with 37's... Seems like the JK crowd like Synergy ($250) or Dynatrac ($500+) so they're reasonably priced for JK axles.

Ive installed a few sets of synergy BJ's on JKs and no one has been happy that ive put them on(they purchased the parts, not me).

Poor return to center, wandering steering, darty steering. I think some of them got better after a few thousand miles but ive never had any issues with the dynatrac Bjs.

Just for reference. Toyota IFS guys been running them like this for a long time. I had these in my Taco and jumped it and beat the ever loving piss out of iit with fox suspension on fire roads, never had an issue. lasted like 5 years before rust got to it. Newer ones used stainless balls. Mind you it has WAAAAAY bigger moment arm than Dana 44 C's.

My comment wasn’t a knock my friend, just an observation.

And, again, if it’s fixing a problem for those running super big tires, God bless you.

I read threads like this to learn, and maybe find stuff that’ll help my little Jeep on 33’s out.

I like checking out the extreme builds some of you do. I find it truly amazing the time, effort, and money spent, and some pretty wild engineering too, that gets these little Jeeps doing the extreme off road things you do.

So have at it brother 😸

I have them in my garage but not installed. @David Kishpaugh installed them and so @Rescue6
Been running them since I think September or October of last year so almost a year now. I was actually a test fit for the design on them before release on the Tj axles. I actually bugged him for over a year to get these made. I payed full price so I’m Not being influenced. Josh the owner is a great guy and you won’t find better customer service anywhere. Mine are still just as smooth and tight as the day I installed them. I’ve tried many of the other brands. I went this route because the last few sets of the Joints I had used lasted only six months or so. I for one am glad I won’t be pressing anymore balljoints.

I keep buggin him about making them for old school Dana 44/30 & Chevy 12 bolt so I can install a set on my axle. I'm hoping he might get to us guys in a year or so.

Thanks for the update! I'm going to order a set.

3 sets in. 2 customer rigs and a set in my 00 tj super 30 with 37's solved my synergy upper joint issue, no issues so far. one set went in a Dana 44 tj that had egged out lower holes. I tig welded the delete housings in.

How long have you had these installed? Just wondering regarding longevity.

I ordered my set today.

I'm curous too. Per American Iron the "Expected lifespan of spherical bearings is estimated at 2 years depending on tire size, use, etc."
For the price ($475) that doesn’t seem to be worth it to me. I’d be through 4 sets of ball joints before this price, and even wheeling pretty hard I might be through a single set every other season.

Old thread revival alert!

@Rescue6 are the ball joint delete's still working well for you after a couple years? These came up in a recent conversation with a buddy about upgrades for longevity. I've busted an unknown brand set on the passenger side and replaced with Spicers. Just want to know if these are truly worth the $$. I run 35's on stock shafts in an HP Dana 30. I usually just bust a short side shaft at the yokes and just carry spare shafts. The next weak link for me is the ball joints. Interested to read your findings.

Thanks!

This isn't a first-person account so take it with a grain of salt but there's a guy @The_HeathenTj on Instagram who had a truly terrible experience with the install. Again I can't vouch for him or his experience just thought it should be something to mention.

Mine got replaced with Yukon/Apex ball joints 2weeks ago. about 17 months wobble free and started violently shaking again once in a while. a few weeks later, still driving it, it became completely undriveable. the rebuild kit was more than I wanted to spend and I didn't want to wait for them to arrive when I already keep the apex in stock. my jeep is daily driven on 37's as well as used as a loaner for customers, and wheeled hard weekly, not just once in a while.
