I’m out at the ranch this weekend, and it’s raining. I put the full doors and and sides for the soft top on, so no water in the cabin. When I went to drive back to the house, I got a warning ding and the airbag light came on in the dash. No power to the radio, no power to the ac/heat/fan, no wipers. It drives fine. Headlights work. Gauge cluster lights work. Aux switches work. I’m about to start looking at fuses, but any idea what would cause multiple things at once? It was all working 45 minutes prior. Thanks in advance!

Check fuses 5,6,7,8 if they all have no power. Check fuse #6 under the hood in the primary junction box if this fuse is good then remove the steering column cover and check circuit F951 for power coming in the red 14 gauge wire and going out circuit F951 14 gauge pink wire with yellow strip with the ignition in the run position. If all this checks out get back to me I’ll give you the next steps.

Appreciate the pointers, NSK. On my 2006, the under hood number 6 slot is labeled as the starter and it’s hot. I’m going to take a look at F951 once Thanksgiving festivities are over. Happy Thanksgiving!

This is an example of what makes this forum great. Nice work.

I looked at my 06, it is labeled starter also. Take a look at the wiring diagram. What Jeep has done is use the #6 fuse to engauge the starter in the start position (#1) then when the key returns to the run position fuse #6 powers up the additional circuits. See #2 in the ignition switch block diagram (blue line) this is inside the ignition switch. If it cranks over that would also tell you #6 is good. Doing this allowed Check the fuses inside in the run position. This circuit is doing double duty allowing the vehicle to be built using less fuses, less wire therefore saving production costs.
I do see a possible wiring diagram mistake in the start circuit but this has no bearing whatsoever on what you are chasing.

NSK, I pulled and tested the #6 anyway (starter is working), and then went and tested the pink wire. It’s hot. So I was figured I’d try it all again after drying out in the garage. Everything works again. I’m thinking that it’s an intermittent water related short. If I had to guess, it has to do with the PO’s rock lights or audio cabling, which are a bit janky. I’ve saved everything you’ve suggested for if it happens again. I’m in a (wonderful) communication black hole, so downloaded backups are the way to go! Hope you have a great rest of your TG weekend!
