Started my LJ today and it began puking coolant out of the a/c condensate tube coming from the passenger side firewall. Fun times ahead with the heater core.

I read through some old threads and it looks like some forum folks are recommending to go with Performance Radiator's heater cores. Please let me know if you have an opinion on a certain manufacturer.

I also would appreciate any recs on a good evap core. I am thinking I might as well bite the bullet and do them both while having the dash apart.

Thanks for the help.

Installed a performance radiator heater core a couple of weeks ago. Puts out heat plenty fine. Can't say anything for the evap core did not do mine (converting to onboard air). Took me about 4-5 hrs, that being my first heater core as well. Watch your windshield, I was being an idiot and smacked with the socket wrench!

1st see if there's a radiator repair shop near you and have yours fixed. if it's not fixable from the opinions on here it seems performance rad. is OK. If it were mine I would change the evap core while I'm in there because sure as shit it will go out next summer if you don't !

I am going to try a Napa one and see how it does. Mainly because I have had good luck from their parts in the past and if it goes down I can usually find a Napa to replace it. Also going to try their coil bar.

Thanks for the feedback on the Performance heater core. It seems to have good reviews.

Did you crack your windshield?

You know the evap core will crap out for sure if I leave it be!

Do you mean to fix the factory heater core, if possible? That didn't cross my mind.

Let us know how that goes. It's always helpful to the forum at large when folks share their experiences.

yes sir fix the factory one especially if you live where it gets cold. one of them laws (newtons I think ) says sure as shit it will leak next year and youll have to tear the whole dash apart again, your already in there mine as well replace both . I think the evap core is like $80 from napa. your jeep is coming up on 20yrs old. I hate doing things twice but thats me some will tell you just leave it until it goes out. if your a lucky person let it go hope it last you another 20yrs. If you aint got a gold horseshoe up your butt change it now so next summer when it's 100 degs. out and your A/C aint workin and your tearing out the dash again you'll remember ! but hey I also have never replaced just 2 spark plugs out of 6 either !

I like that option. Thanks.

I will see what condition it is in when I remove it and maybe get it repaired.

Performance radiator also sells an evap core, and thinking I might need an o-ring kit for the AC lines.

Never heard that one about a golden horseshoe. I need to hang out with you Bama and Georgia boys more often. But, you know who has the golden horseshoe...

Absolutely lol. Always heard about how everyone cracks their windshields... Mine was going on 2 years strong of bombing down fire service roads and even trailing dudes, of course fixing one thing and breaking the next!

What a bummer! Thanks for the warning. (y)

That's something I might have done as well.
