North Carolina List of Carolinian off-roaders

Well, I made it today. First time in a decade or so, so I was a little lost. I had a map, but over shot my first trail head and wound up on 91 which turned out to be Dickey Bell. 1.5 miles into it, I decided to turn back at a very particular point, this one. V

I wound up riding 1/2 of the loop and what I think was the backside of Daniel, but had to get back home to work some. Overall it was a decent day with only a handful of other people on the trails. I'm going to try to get back down there before they close the trails.

I've never gone down that section, but it seemed pretty steep the first time I went up it.

Looks easy from the picture point of view… lol, kidding. It can be daunting but it isn’t too bad.

Me and little man walked about 1/2 down. Too many deep drops and ledges for me. But yea, the camera makes it look like just another flat section of trail.

I have yet to put my LJ in that section as I've only had it there once, but I eat that line up with my SXS. The lower part is some fun articulation. At the Y on the bottom, I usually stay in the middle and then take a hard right.

That section is fun. I haven’t tried it since putting the auto locker up front though. I didn’t choose a very good line there at the end. Didn’t even know my front tire was off the ground until afterwards and my buddy was laughing and showed me the picture. LOL

When the lockers are on, Dickey bell isn’t so hard anymore, lol. they make a world of difference but not really needed.

This is a general line you take when headed down Dickey bell. The jeep kind of just scoots or pivots along that turn. Our SWB just walks this section up or down.

Right at that shadow in the middle and just beyond it are knee-high ledges that looked like they would more or less swallow my 33s and bottom me out. Those holes were the reason I turned back. I talked to some guys at the top who thought I'd get down with no problems other than dragging my steps, but I'm not willing to do that. Running your line, keeping my tires up on the embankment might have allowed me to get down. I'd have to see someone else run it first.

I will say I was actually impressed with my mostly stock Jeep. I never drug anywhere and only shifted into 4wd once, but that was only for low range.

Some crazy stuff happened on Saturday that completely knocked out electricity to almost the whole county I live in, which I’m sure y’all have heard about. So decided not to go and prep generators and get all stuff together for the next few days or until it gets restored.

I have a generator if you need an extra. Also have about 5 or so jugs of gas.

I haven't heard yet (I was on the road yesterday), so what happened?
