Went out to take the TJ to the shop to try to figure out if I’ve got a problem with the voltage regulator in the PCM or the alternator.

It’s been hard to start, and had it almost fire a couple times, but suddenly the key stop turning.

Can’t remove the key or turn it. I tried working the steering lock button while trying to turn, pressing the brake repeatedly, moving the steering wheel back-and-forth shifting the five speed through the gears, pushing both the clutch and brake both to the floor, and nothing was working.

Any suggestions? Is there any type of electric lock that would keep the key in, but not turning.

Hit the key with the palm of your hand (or a rubber mallet) driving it towards the column. I’ve got to do this occasionally with my XJ.
