Savvy off-road sold? (the unofficial Savvy customer support and Savvy rant thread)

It's only a problem if they actually send stickers.

No more stickers.

Now you'll get one of these to proudly display...

...If they don’t can another company copy their design or would the designs have to be bought?

That will completely depend on the terms of the commercial deal between Savvy and the designer. They may have bought the rights for a one off sum, they may have a licensing agreement with the design being paid for each one of their designs sold. If the latter there could be a change of control clause that gives the design certain rights in the circumstances where the ownership of Savvy changes, as it has now. If Savvy own the rights and don't want to make the products they could sell the design or license it to another company. If the designer retains control of the rights they could do the same. Ultimately it will all depend if somebody, somewhere thinks there is money to be made out of the products in question.

well i just ordered a pallet of mountain dew in preparation for adding some z's to my life..

also thinkin about changing my name to kyle.. might go with chad or tanner not sure yet.. can't add a z to any of those names so it's a tough choice

I'm just seeing this and it doesn't surprise me. Savvy sold to a very specific clientele. Those that wanted quality parts and weren't concerned about paying more for it. That market seems to be shrinking, while the JK, JL, and JT market grows. Let's just hope that some of these parts don't cease to exist. If they do, there aren't many alternatives left! :(

Education is part of it. I haven't been in any JK communities, but I'm assuming they lack a lot of the education we receive. Put another way, if you don't know why something is better, why pay for an expensive bumper when you can buy 2 cheaper ones for the same price?

Agree, most products are designed around ease of manufacturing not necessarily design and proper function.
Many Savvy products are unique in that those who know why they are built/designed the way they are are willing to pay the higher price.

Trust me, they really, really do.

In the words of my brother-in-law (who is one of the educated few): "You should have written it in crayon, preferably with misspelled and unnecessary big words we don't understand. Especially if you're talking about bolt-on accessories and rooftop tents."

There are a lot of products for the TJ that are talked about in high regard as great products. After spending time on here over that last few years it is now easy to see how bad some are.
Marketing is key. If Zavvy has strong marketing it will do ok.
