Who insures your TJ?

I am thinking about doing the same. Have House, Camp, Camper and Three vehicles (including the LJ) with full coverage on USAA for almost 12 years now. Insurance jumped almost $100 extra a month on my newest contract. With no explanation

Same. I moved from the DC area to Roanoke and I'm driving a third as many miles, and my rates went up. Called State Farm and was shocked. USAA said they could match it when I called....told them to stuff it.

have had USAA also for the last 15 years. I’ve wondered if there is something better. Def need to explore different options.

I've been with USAA since '66
I've had claims for damage to my home, but never for a vehicle
Last November I was involved in a car accident. The other driver was at fault, his insurance company (Progressive) was very slow to respond. I contacted USAA and they have been handling everything. So far they have paid out more than 28k for repairs tomy 2022 Volvo. I'm sure I could find a cheaper rate but I doubt that I could find better coverage.

I've been with State Farm for decades, I've never been able to find anyone who could beat them by any substantial amount. Years back, I stopped in at AAA and showed them my State Farm policy. They guy told me flat up: "I wish I could write insurance this good." Of course, that was then, I dunno about now...

I was with State Farm also for over a 25 years. Then a a year ago they dropped coverage on my Mountain Home saying it was in a fire area. I checked with several and no one will cover fire areas in CA, so I had to go with the California Fair Plan. The Fair Plan is anything but fair, it is a CA plan for people that have been canceled and it only covers fire, wind things like a tree coming thru your house. It does cover theft, liability or water damage and my coverage went from around $1,400.00 a year to $4,800.00. So I dropped State Farm and went to Allstate and a little better coverage a little less, moved three cars, my home and one rental house sorry State Farm

For anyone shopping, I suggest you include getting a quote from Travelers. We currently use them for our property and fleet of vehicles. Usually works best if you quote property and auto as a bundle.

They did that to us here in Florida, I'm now with the Florida State run InsCo "Citizen's".

Been around the insurance block a few times and will never again have State Farm, Farmers, or USAA (at least here in Texas. In my opinion (for what it's worth) anyone who currently has any one of those should shop quotes again at their next renewal - and every year after that.

Liberty Mutual here. Originally sold me insurance with the claim that my rate increase each year wouldn't go up by more than 3-5%. This year it jumped 30%. I'm now shopping around.

I use an insurance broker- they have 3-4 brands that they rep- progressive, met life, safe-co… I think. My experience is that it’s good to go shopping every couple of years. I would hit a lower price tier because of age, long standing goood driving record, etc… that my present company does not pass along but switch carriers and you will see it. I will add that you have a kid that gets into two parking lot incidents and it will futz the plan up - 😉

I have three vehicles with Hagerty- they want to see my primary with another carrier- just want the Sunday drivers but I think I am just under $400 for all three, stated value at $40,000.

I have learned you have to have an independent insurance broker that will shop for you. Insurance companies do not care about loyalty.
I have changed home owners and car insurance twice in the last five years. No claims, no tickets, no nothing.
Homeowners insurance doubled and car insurance almost doubled for no reason.
To hell with that. Now it’s actually lower than it was five years ago.
Find a good insurance agent that don’t sell their own product and save money.
As long as I get the coverage and deductibles I want it doesn’t matter to me who the carrier is.

State Farm. In CA and my forth vehicle one the policy with full coverage at $540 a year.

The couple of no fault accidents we have had in the last 10 years, they took very good care of us (deer strike and rear ended).

State Farm my be ok in the owners end but they suck a$$ if you are hit by someone insured by them. 2 yrs ago a lady tried to pass me on the right in bumper to bumper traffic. She was faced with the decision to either hit an oak tree head on or me. She chose me. State Farm initially said it was 20% my fault for being there and offered to pay me 20% less. All I wanted was to be made whole. I got lawyered up and he reminded me of my injured thumb from the steering wheel spinning. I got way more than I originally wanted.
Insurance companies on either side only care about their interests.

I have used Erie for years with no issues or complaints.

I suspect that none of them will knowingly pay a claim if a vehicle is damaged offroading. And I don't I know why anyone would even think to attempt to file a claim if they damaged their vehicle offroad.

A lot of polices have exclusions for racing and competition but not generally for off road use. Best to check your individual policy. Otherwise farmers and Contractors would never be able to get insurance. Insurance does cover stupidity more often thank you may think.

Hagerty and make sure you get cherished salvage. I have my LJR insured and my Willys project.

My wife works for them and is the Jeep/4x4 specialist.
