Jeep restored and reimagined

A base 911 is somewhere north of $100k.

A base Jeep is somewhere north of $30K

A Singer is $300k +

A Zinger Jeep should be less than a new Jeep, or at least in the ball park. Wish, wish, hope, hope.

I expect 3/4s of the appeal of an old Jeep is doing it yourself, if you can, and some here sure can.

Hourly rates for an established custom restoration type shop around here run in the $80-100/hr range, plus parts and materials. I think the labor cost alone would run close to the price of a new Jeep. Add in prices of the chosen Jeep (CJ/YJ/TJ) and required parts, I couldn't see it costing less than $100,000.

Actually, I know a guy who's currently having a CJ5 built by a local shop. Over 3-4 years, he's nearly $60,000 in, according to his estimate. Again, that's a simple CJ5 with mild custom changes, but being built by a professional shop.

That hourly rate is CHEAP compared to here in the PNW. We're $150-200 an hour & I've seen some places that were above $200 an hour.

You mean like this? When I win the LOTTO I plan on getting a Cherokee & Pickup.

I was just about to look for the company doing old Cherokees and Wagoners, but I'm pretty sure that is the company I was thinking about. It seems like their vehicle prices start around $100,000 and quickly climb up. Does that sound right to you?

Yes. If you want a Hellcat you're looking at $200K+ for one. But some of them would be an honor to own.

Here's another place.

These guys must be affiliated with Martin Bros Customs (same address, anyway).
They do a show called Iron resurrection on Velocity channel.
Great work and some beautiful projects coming out of these guys.

All the pictures & videos I've seen would suggest that they are a TOP quality company and go above & beyond in their restoration. I wish I could afford one.

What do you think the right demographic is?

People with more money than brains. ;)

These are just 4x4 resto-mods. The typical buyer IMO is older people with financial backing who are trying to realize an old dream, or they are someone in search of something they believe to be a status symbol. Most high dollar resto-mods are pretty much just shiny trophy vehicles/toys. (there's nothing wrong with having toys if you can afford it, I just hate arrogant people who think it means they're better than others for that reason)

@BlueC Nailed it. Rich people with more money than they know what to do with...its not a bad thing. Some people want something special and don't have the desire or knowledge to build it themselves. Finding those people is the challenge. They aren't who you think they are. A lot of them are unassuming people that you'd never guess are millionaires.

Well, you’d never guess I was a millionaire; and you’d be right! 😂

Still working on getting rich… handsome and smart I’ve already got handled! 😂😂

Funny you mention the smart and handsome. Reminds me of a friend. He works for the state and they required he put his preferred pronouns in his email signature. Without getting into the garbage associated with that…his preferred pronouns with handsome and brilliant.

Last time we talked about this, he was in three hours of sensitivity training classes per week. I talked to him yesterday and he’s down to two a month, lol
