Track bar install help

4wd not engaged and not pointed up or down hill. Someone on here tried to change a back control arm while in gear pointed down hill. That put a bit of tension on it. Do it on level ground.

Just finished the track bar install (Moog stock replacement - $35 manufacturer closeout from Rock Auto), except for the steering wheel adjustment. Went pretty smoothly....I swear getting the cotter pin out was the toughest part  . Just one question about the old track bar (original with 150K miles).....I can move the tie rod end stud pretty easily with two fingers vs. the new one that I can't budge without tapping it with a dead blow hammer. I assume that means the old one was pretty tired? I didn't do the visual test with the steering wheel before I removed it.

So, now that I've got the front end components refreshed (Moog ZJ tie rod, drag link, and track bar, Monroe damper, and new sway bar links)...it's time to tackle ball joints, wheel bearings and u joints. Never done any of those before either, so another learning experience!

Thanks for all the advice with the track bar install.

The tie rod end should be fairly tight, and should not move easily. Your old one was just worn.

Also, you just need the $349.00 Snap-On Cotter Pin Removal Tool - works every time!

:)

Good work on the track bar install.
