Who works on their Jeep or any project in silence?

Depends on what your doing that's for sure or what time of the night you doing it...I'll start a project thinking it'll be a couple hours and I'll be done before dinner...buuuuut it ends up going way into the night, so the music gets turned down.
Sometimes I'll play Carwash by Rose Royce while I'm washing the Jeep in leopard print budgie smugglers......hahaha :b1:

I’m not sure what budgie smugglers are. Pictures or it didn’t happen! :nusenuse:

I have a portable satellite radio I plug in to every vehicle I own, home shop, farm shop, patio, everywhere. Play It loud in the shop, turn it down to calculate or think something through. Silence has its place. But most of the time I like music in the background.

As I'm thinking about this...on the weekends I mostly have the music going. BUT weekdays, I generally don't bother. I listen to all kinds of BS during the work week, so that might have something to do with it. Also, if I'm just wrenching, I'll turn the music on. If I'm welding or using the air tools, I don't bother, because the compressor and welder are loud enough to drown out my music at the level I generally have it set. Noise pollution and all that.

Ha Ha. I live in Florida. It's always hot. I wear hearing aids in both ears (thanks to genetics, abuse from loud music when young, and refusing to wear hearing protection in my auto racing days). Hearing aids cannot get wet. So they come out...and I am very hard of hearing without. So yeah, I guess you could say I work on my TJ in silence...

For me it really depends on time of day.

Naturally most of my projects, vehicle maintenance is done during the day and i much prefer to be by myself and have silence.

In the evening i drink heavy and like loud music....anything from Rhianna to Kenny Chesney to Van Morrison. Lol
Problem is, this is not the idea time for any projects that requires concentration but a blast non the less.

Hey, @Kathy, just a side note, here, if he "communicates" sometimes with a terse or curt response to you, it's more likely than not that he's just deep into what he's doing. For me, I get so wrapped up in what I'm doing (okay, now that's an ironic choice of words, considering recent events with my drill!) that when my lovely wife asks something as simple as "Want a cup of coffee?", it's like I can hear all my concentration crashing down like a broken window pane. Sometimes what I'm thinking about is all that exists in the world for me at that moment. Hell, sometimes that's why I go out to the garage in the first place. Let's me focus on something (anything!) other than bills, responsibilities, etc. I think a lot of guys do that. Just part of our makeup, me thinks. ;)

It seems like I am always the odd man out. I don't know how you guys put up with me. I have a "garage computer" It plays music or movies or youtube or my favorite old motogp races. It is always on. My garage is always making noise. The only thing I need complete silence for is when I am coding for work, and I don't do that out in the garage. I am not always watching the movie or listening to the music, but it is on making some background noise. Lately I was able to get a hold of all of the seasons of SNL, so I have been listening/watching the first season in the garage while working on my trailer. Good times!

That is exactly what dave does . I can tell I’m screwing up his thought process but also feel bad if I don’t check in with him. But I get it and am learning. Just has taken me 6 yrs to finally start to get him. Yeah, no more getting “wrapped up”for a while , K?

And that is how I am. I need to have background noise. But to each their own. Whatever works . When I’m in the garage with Dave, he’s fine if I turn tunes on. I just can’t crank it loud. Unless some g n r comes on. Then exceptions are made :headbang:

LOL So, anytime you want to share with us guys some insight into how you gals do things, feel free to do so. Not saying we'll get it, or that if we do, we'll actually remember it five minutes later, but hey, help a guy out, would ya? I lost the Chilton's manual on women years ago!!! :p
