Who works on their Jeep or any project in silence?

LOL So, anytime you want to share with us guys some insight into how you gals do things, feel free to do so. Not saying we'll get it, or that if we do, we'll actually remember it five minutes later, but hey, help a guy out, would ya? I lost the Chilton's manual on women years ago!!! :p
HA. There isn’t a manual to explain women. And if there was, it would change hourly. :smiley_1140:

Damn, y’all make me feel like an odd ball. Hahaha. I rock out at least 97% of the time I am working on anything. I buck against technology most of the time but there are 300 cd’s worth of music on my phone that never gets scratched. Gotta love that. I love most kinds of music. What I listen to depends on my mood at the time.

On a summer's day out in the garage, I'll crank up the tunes. What's now considered "Classic Rock" prevails, though I love Grunge, Alternative, Acid Rock, and Classic Country (stuff going back into the 20's, even, long before it was ever called "Country"). No use for Rap (In "Rap", the "c" is silent...). But sometimes the silence is the best. Total focus. It all depends...

In general I feel the same about rap, but there is some late 80s, early 90s stuff that I listened to in my teens and will still play sometimes now.
Also what my friend refers to as tractor rap. Discovered it not too long ago. I don’t like it all of it but some of it kicks ass. Reminds me of growing up in a small town in Texas.

Same here. 90s rap reminds me of my college days. I’m gonna have to look up tractor rap. I can just imagine .

Never found Haynes to be complete enough

I am the only one who has trouble working with a woman? Let's say we are carrying something and we come to a door and have to swing wide to pass without hitting the frame-- guys I work with do this without a word but my dear wife--well....... Or you need help feeding a long sheet thru a table saw, or carrying a ladder, or get me 9/16 socket, or a anything, or a map reading. Maybe that's just the trouble with some city girls.

On the other hand- don't think I am handy at picking out a play, or setting up any vacation short of a jeep trip, and a few other things.

im starting to worry about my boyfriend. He has been spending many many hours straight putting all the electrical in the new workshop for the Jeeps. He doesn’t have anything playing out there. Dead silence. He says he’s fine.
How many of you work on your TJ in silence? I’m afraid he’s going to go Mad!

I started with silence while working on "Pig-Pen", my WWII Jeep, the major stresses of my job seemed to float away, then the silence was broken when I started talking to myself during those times....out loud.....Then came the WWII Big Band music, and talking to myself.......had some great and sometimes disturbing conversations with myself.......Then came the TJ, Country Western, and No Shoes Radio...... Life is great working on the TJ, even if there is nothing to work on......No silence though, ........can't seem to shake that talking out loud to myself thing........ :)

Good save! LOL My kid sister (a whole year younger than me) is as good with outdoor equipment (including firearms and rod & reel) as any guy I've met. In an apocalyptic setting, you absolutely want her around! LOL She's a better man than I am, and her husband will back me on that! ;) As for working with women, tain't no different than some guys I've worked with. With my car being unloaded from the car trailer, my then future son-in-law places the wheel chock in front of the tire as it's rolling backwards. Six years of hanging around me has gotten him a little better than that, though he now won't use a drill......

I'd talk to myself, but found I usually have better taste in company than that... ;)

Well now that you mention it-- yup- da brother in law.

I talk to myself...I find it enlightening, as I'm usually the only one who understands me.
Win any arguments lately? ;) There's a guy at work (in the machine shop) who would argue with his soon-to-be ex-wife. He must've been hearing her in his head, because there were some pretty specific and direct responses to her, let me tell you.

People. Never a dull moment...

During the day I listen to talk radio. At night and on the weekends it's usually classic rock & pop. If there's a game or race on I'll have the TV on and kind of half work / half watch. It's not very often that it's silent in the garage.

Good ideas about bringing him something to drink, ice tea or a beer. You may also find an hour to enjoy the unfinished space by having a meal in there or just listening to “November Rain” if time is short!

It’s also good to remember if it’s a “for fun” project that you have to enjoy the journey not the destination. I suffer from wanting to get a task done versus taking time to enjoy doing it. The TJ is teaching me though!

Remind him that it’s supposed to be fun (assuming it’s a for fun project)!
