Well my beautiful white rig has been diagnosed with the big “C” word. [emoji36][emoji20]. Weird thing is it’s not the frame but in random small areas on the paint. It started out of no where and pushed out like a popped pimple. It’s even staining the paint on the rocker and I can’t get that out. How do I stop it and how much will the set me back? Sorry no pictures, I blew out my back and can’t get up the last few days. Will post ASAP.

Well, that is a bummer. Rust is a tricky thing...Hard to predict what you're going to find under the paint. Only way to know is take it to the body shop. Might be a 200 dollar fix, or 2000. They have to remove the paint, get ALL the rust out, treat it, fill (or replace metal depending) and then repaint to a "line" like a body seam or where the fender ends. Its not complicated, just labor intensive.

It depends on how much rust and where it is located at. If the paint is being pushed like a pimple, you might have rusts built on the weld seams and so that needs more tedious work. Anything that bubbles, you have a bigger problem. I hate rusts with a passion.

Those are the typical spots that I fixed on my TJs.
Don't feel bad for most of us had those at the hinges and few little pimples on flat surface getting nicked by rocks.
I seriously advise you against patching them. Better off grind them to bare metal and do the right prep works or they will all come back in a year or two.

The pic of the passenger door with the rust stain running down the quarter, the rust is behind the weather stripping of the door. What do I do with that and the seam on the rear door?

I have a sneaking suspicion that you aren't going to find good things under that paint...

Amazing how much that salt destroys cars.

What’s amazing is how quick it popped up. Since I’ve had this tj I make sure to power wash under her every time we get salt but I guess I can’t get every crevice. What suck is I’m so meticulous and all this stuff kills me swing it

There are drain holes inside at the bottom edge of the door. Water retained in between those seams will eventually turn to be rusted gooey stuff. You can not remove those gooey rusts. I poured POR-15 inside my door panel twice one weekend and called it a day.

My Advise: When or if you already fixed these rusts, painted and all, every after power wash carwash you do, try to apply heavy coats of turtle wax by hand throughout all the painted surfaces of your rig. That is what I do on mine from Summer through Fall season. The wax coating serves as salt-rust shield prevention from winter salts and will last through the winter.

Dosent look bad at all! In high school I had a pickup truck, where I could literally stick my whole entire hand through the frame! Haha, that doesn’t look too terrible, but I would nip it in the butt now, that shit will just keep spreading like wildfire if not properly addressed!

It's not just from salt, here in the midwest we have to deal with a lot of humidity as well.

It never occurred to me humidity was a contributing factor to rust, but that makes sense now that I think about it!

Yeah, and this time of year it gets warmer outside than in my garage. As soon as I open the garage door, it practically starts raining in my garage! The floor and vehicles look like I hosed them down, from all the condensation!

Yeah, I’m going to get some estimates when these damn no’Easter’s stop running through here. We had 3 in the last 2 weeks and they already talking about another this Tuesday. What do you guys think about Armour? Not going crazy but just for the rockers and the front fenders. I was thinking about taking care of the rust then protecting it with the Armour.
