What are you all using for a hose to run from your compressor/tank to your tires? My Viair came with this perma-coiled hose and it's getting to be a pain in the butt.

So it's a loose hose...meaning it's not permanently coiled? I don't know how else to describe that.

Yes, more or less. It has a bit of memory to it, but easily uncoils to a straight hose if need be. Coil it back up like you would a rope and stow it.

Another vote for the ARB hose/inflator kit. I never had any issues with the ARB inflator.

Connect it and walk away while it aired up. Hose is long enough to go from compressor under the hood to the rear tires (on a TJ, don't have my LJ built yet but will have same setup). I had solid valve stems on Trail Ready beadlocks though so maybe the inflator doesn't work well on rubber valve stems?

I tried one of those little yellow hoses and the ARB heavy duty pump got so hot and transferred that heat to the quick disconnect that the hose melted at the fitting.

because I didnt need that long of a hose, i pieced mine together from parts at Harbor Freights:View attachment 14478 View attachment 14479
Interesting setup.
Do you have an air tank under the Jeep or is that a piped up to the compressor?
I have the ARB CKMA12 compressor with the Tire Inflation Kit. I have been wanting to add something similar to have easier access for my air hose.

I remote located the quick disconnect from the ARB compressor to the front of my TJ so I don't have to raise the hood. Works well and is quieter. And the ARB inflators hose still easily reaches all the tires.

I have the tank mounted under the vehicle, and plumb lines to the 4 sides of the vehicle; the ViAir compressor is mounted in the engine compartment next to the Master Cylinder and plumb to the air tank.

The ARB compressor is dedicated strictly for the Air Locker; I also bypassed all the funky relay wiring and just tied the 2 compressors into one switch, but they both still have independent cutoff switches.

Jorge, the hose doesn't get excessively hot, but it is a high temperature hose (it's a 300psi flame resistant hose suitable for this application). I bought the remote hardware as a kit from Rock Your 4x4 in Knoxville. Look them up if interested. I'm sure they will ship. Cost was ~$35.

I don't carry a compressor and air hose yet. (still figuring out what route to go) I don't care for coiled hoses though, I feel like they take up more space than a straight hose. I can coil a regular hose in my gear bag where as the coiled hose seems like it would take up more space. They also get hung up on tires a lot in my experience too. My dad has one connected to his compressor at home all the time. It's handy, but I often fight with it too.

I had forgotten about this post. I ended up buying this hose, and it's exactly what I was looking for.

@Van Thanks!

I use a Flexzilla 1/4" x 25' flexible air line from Amazon with my own air inflator/deflator that I assembled from readily available brass fittings from Ace Hardware, air hose fittings from Harbor Freight (or Home Depot), a 3' flexible leader hose I found on Amazon, and a 0-60 psi gauge from McMaster-Carr (P/N 4089K62):

In inflation mode:

In deflation mode set up to deflate two tires at once:

Set Up for Deflating Two Tires at Once.jpg

The inflator/deflator alone:

Set Up to Deflate One Tire.jpg

Close Up of Manifold with Gauge.jpg

One inflates by attaching the green air hose to the coupler shown to the left of the inline valve (with red handle). The inline valve with red handle is kept open unless one wants to isolate the tire gauge in order to get a reading without any fluttering of the gauge needle. One deflates a single tire by connecting the red hose to a tire and opening/closing the thumbscrew drain valve shown to the right of the gauge. One can deflate two tires at once by closing the inline valve, attaching the red hose to tire #1 and the green hose from the coupler to tire #2, re-opening the inline valve so the two tires equalize pressure, then deflating both tires at once by using the thumbscrew drain valve.

Everything (including other inflation accessories, spare parts, fuses, etc.) fits in this bag that sits behind the driver's seat:

Tire Kit Bag.jpg

Why did I go to all the trouble when a simple air chuck and separate gauge would do? It all started when I decided that I was tired of bending over to inflate/deflate tires - the 3' leader hose on my inflator allows me to clip on the chuck and stand upright while I inflate/deflate/check tire pressure.

Sure its overkill, but why build something when one can overbuild it?

The compressor:

Caveat: This airline and all fittings are set up for an open chuck system that one typically finds with a portable air compressor or a hardmounted compressor that doesn't utilize a tank. If one uses a tank then one would use a female coupler at the end of the leader hose rather than a stud, reverse the green hose, the quick connect coupler next to the inline valve would be replaced with a quick connect stud, etc.

I like that a lot? It is on my wish list!

Where did you get the end cap/cover for the coupler? I've been looking and can't find them.
