Which O2 sensor for UK market TJ?

Hi everyone!

My family has a 2002 jeep TJ 4.0 that we've had for nearly 2 decades. Recently an engine warning light has popped up of the dashboard. To find out the problem, i plugged in my OBD2 reader, and found out that one of the o2 sensors (bank 1 sensor 2) wasn't working properly. I then researched finding a replacement sensor using the o2 sensor thread. I then looked under the car to locate the sensor, only to find that the o2 sensors were in different places to where you would expect them to be for a TJ made in May 2002.

Rather than having 4 o2 sensors like most 2002 TJs, my one has 2. 1 located before the cat, one located after. Being sensor 2, I believe that the one after the cat is the problematic one. I tried finding a model number on the o2 sensor, though i couldn't find anything due to corrosion.

Would anybody know the model number for this o2 sensor?

Rockauto parts listings show Mopar 5139020AA is after CAT and 56031110AA is before CAT for 2002 4.0 litre. Says they fit for US 50 State or Export emissions; Japan Low Emission Vehicle (JLEV). They also list Mopar 56041887AA for after CAT Rear Europe; Export Emissions; Euro Stage II Emission Vehicle or Euro Stage III Emission Vehicle .

Hi thanks for the quick reply and the really useful info.
Its a pain that they're the most expensive o2 sensors for these motors, though I have heard that the computers for TJs are very picky about them, so i guess i have no choice.
Are there any NTK/NGK equivalents available?

Haven't found an exact identical NTK/NGK sensor. Ones that do pop up are for 4 O2 sensor applications, also do not say they for exports. Yes our Jeeps are very particular about brands of sensors. If I were in your spot I would buy the Mopars, they are pricey but they work.. Apparently did for almost 2 decades on your families Jeep.

Hi, I am also in need of these sensors for a 2004 TJ (Australia). However a search on the worldwide web this morning revealed that the Mopar 56031110AA Oxygen Sensor has been discontinued. Would you happen to know what the replacement sensor is?

I checked quickly on the 2004 TJ parts catalog , also on Rockauto's site. The Mopar part number you quoted didn't appear under the 2004 Wrangler listings for those for either engine. Double check that number. Maybe it's a domestic vs export thing?

As for replacement brands NTK is the most recommended go to brand by the forum members.

I have a Jeep spares guy in my neighbourhood, and he's proving to be a great resource. So too is this forum. Anyway, he's located the sensor I need (bank 1, sensor 1). Interesting thing though, the check engine light went out yesterday afternoon!?
