Saw a new JL Rubicon today

They are just so huge now. TJs are big enough, let alone something that huge. Well the Wrangler had a good run, so I would imagine they will keep growing them and then come out with something that is actually sporty. Wonder what they will call them?
That model will be JLS I swear.
Wrangler stopped at TJ model IMO.
and so, JK to JL to whatever FIAT comes up next, I could care less.

I would not rule out a JLR in my future when prices drop as used ones come out, but I would also take a 2014 JKR with half doors in about 5-10 years as my TJ ages more and becomes even more of a toy car to keep in the car stable.

I still want a JLR... I want a Red or Mojito 2dr. Yes $45k sticker, maybe close to $50k fully loaded. Its easy to get these at 3-6% under invoice which is 10-13% off MSRP...so a JLR can be had for $40k-$45k. While I agree with the purists that this is not the "traditional" jeep in that it lacks simplicity... For a daily driver that is mostly a commuter than can do just about anything else too...would I rather have this for $40k or a vanilla/less capable Kia Sorrento, Honda CRV/Pilot, Chevy Equinox/GMC Terrain, Ford Edge or whatever its called, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4Runner, etc.
I would rather have a JLR than all of these. And to boot, they will likely hold their value way way better than all the Japanese and generic Chevy/GMC/Ford offerings as well as the Nissan/Toyota.

I never think of cars as investments, good or bad...I think of them for what they are...fun toys that happen to be appliances. I'm not looking to put all my pennies in the bank for when I am in my 70's. I will have enough to live and enjoy life...and at that age that's all I care about...not making my kids or grandkids rich. If I thought of cars as investments I would drive a $2,500 beater and have 10 classic cars from the 60's and earlier that I never, ever could drive...just trailer them to car shows and sell them to buy another.

Agreed, generally speaking automobiles are not investments. They do not go up in value. Hobbiest and people who make big money can afford to turn automobiles into investments. But they rarely drive them and keep them OEM.

I do give the designers on the JL credit, they did try to bring in some older details back the JL like the grill slant and the headlights pushing into the slats on the grill. And they are very capable rigs rigr off the lot. But at the end of the day, all of our bias is going to go to the beautiful TJ/LJ design.

I'd really like to get my fiance to want a JKU/ JLU. They would be great for her IMO. Kids (future) could fit, dogs could fit, goes camping with ease. Tough axles comparatively to a IFS rig (she runs into shit a lot). Not TOO big IE suburban etc. yet not too small like a CRV. I'm still trying to get her to like the looks of the 4 runners, I think they too would make a good vehicle for her. I do like that with the jeep the fenders stick out from the body so when she inevitably runs into stuff that it will be more likely to hit plastic than steel.
