Need advice. Hopeing i didnt screw myself here. I put an 06 4.0l in my 01. After 04 they changed the intake manifold and some emissions stuff and the cam shaft sensor. I swapped in a new intake and got all my emissions controls hooked up. And then i replaced the plug on my wiring harness to fit the diff camshaft sensor. I also replaced just about everything on the motor except for valves, lifters and the head gasket. So my problem now that im finished is it will start but it takes a couple dozen tries and when its at idle it sounds great but the moment i touch the throttle it will die. Im thinking that the camshaft synchronizer is not doing what my ecm wants it to do. I really dont know. Have a lot of time and money into this project and hope it can be fixed. What do you guys think?

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is that I believe you're going to need the ECM (computer) from the same year 4.0.

In addition to that, the wiring harnesses are different throughout the years, but I'm not sure it's as simple as just swapping out a plug. I could be wrong, so hopefully someone who has done a similar swap will chime in.

Why not use the intake off the old block. Have you checked top dead center on piston one. Sounds like you might be off on where the sensor is for the distributor by a tooth

I changed the intake manifold just to have a new one. No real reason other than cleaner inside and out. It matched up really well compared to the old one. I have not checked tdc on the block i will try that when i have time and see if there is a change.
