What are your recommendations to freshen up TJ interior?

Dear Forum members, esp those of you who purchased a used TJ ... what are your best tips and tricks to freshen up the interior of a black TJ?

The seats in my TJ are comfortable and no rips or anything, but man, the factory black seat with specks of color shows it's age. I've ordered a set of black/charcoal Iggee seat covers after reading yet another informative post by @Chris. The factory carpets and mats need a good cleaning, but I am wondering if it's better to replace both to freshen up the interior a bit. Any thoughts?

I really wanted a tan (khaki?) TJ, but I could not find a rubicon model in my budget/mileage/condition constraints after weeks and weeks and weeks of looking. So I bought a black one (56k miles, single owner, nice condition) when a good rubicon finally showed up. One good thing about black is that you can get black everything, but black everywhere also makes it too boring.

I'd love to see some interior photos if black TJs that you guys have spruced up a bit and get some ideas.

Personally I removed my carpet and bed lined the interior. Also, you can get some armor all wipes and go to town on all the plastic inside.

The carpet is fairly easy to remove so you could take it out and do your best to clean it with soap and water and go from there.

Bedrug is the way to go with carpet with some seat covers and LED lights in the dashboard will add colour as well.
If you want to get trigger happy with a rattle can, take out the centre piece on your dash and paint that as well.

I also just purchased a well taken care of 2006 TJ, but purchased Wet Okole seat covers and intend to buy a BedRug or BedTred carpet to freshen it up a bit.

haha! I don't know how you shift left handed, 1st gear would be the furthest away from you. Not sure I could get used to that now. I would probably put it in reverse thinking it was first and run into something. I am clumsy that way!

Luckily I'm part orangutan we have very long arms

For my Jeep, if they made a Bedrug in camel or spice, I would buy one in a heartbeat. I think one for you will definitely help.

LED bulbs are an inexpensive way to help freshen things up.

New roll bar padding is an option.

Choose another color to accent the black. Some go with red, but silver or gunmetal is perhaps more subtle. Use it sparingly, just enough to remove the boring. Don’t get all black wheels. I know that’s exterior. Just sayin!

My interior needed some major cleaning/replacing. I purchased the bed rug for the front, and now wish I would have attempted to clean the original carpet first. I tackled the back carpet with some cleaner and it cleaned up great! I personally like the look and texture of the original carpet, but the bed rug is fine. If money is tight, I suggest you trying cleaning yours up. Mine had paint,dirt, and looked very worn. After cleaning, it spruced right up. Not sure if it was the brand cleaner I used or what, but I was amazed .

If u have a pressure washer try taking your existing carpet out and using the pw to clean it. Did it to mine two weeks ago and it came out great... if u can hang the carpet on a fence when u wash it - even better.... then let the sun dry it out and should look good.

Just got rid of my black Iggee’s.... had then for 4 or 5 years.... for a few more bucks than what Iggees cost i just installed black leather seats with perforated red inserts and red stitching. Does brighten the interior

LOL! I have an Excel maintenance chart for each of my Jeeps (oil change, filters, lube, tires, etc.). The last item on the list is to replace the air freshener.

The best thing I did to freshen up my interior was to toss the beat up seats and put in some Tiburon seats from a junk yard. Inexpensive and easy to do.
