I've been lurking a few weeks as I was looking and finally got another Jeep after selling my XJ many years ago. I bought it built as is with only 24k on the odometer, not a spot of rust, and a 5 speed. My first upgrade will be Dana 44 axle and a re gear. I wasn't going to buy an X but the low miles sold me. Its currently sitting on Dana 30/35 with 3.07's. Pretty doggy around town, but figured for the low price I paid I can do alot of upgrades before I hit the prices of the Rubi's in the area. Luckily being an ASE certified master tech I can do it all myself.

I'm currently looking at the Core44 complete assembly for ease of installation for the rear and a simple re-gear for the front, but definitely open to recommendations.

Very nice, indeed! Desert Jeeps don't generally have any rust, so if it lived there all its life, I can see why. Love the look. And welcome to WTJF!

Wow, that thing looks clean! Congrats on the purchase.

How do you like it compared to your old XJ (I came from an XJ as well)?

Have you had the top and doors off yet?

I loved my XJ but always wanted a real Jeep. The Cherokee was a great little rig when I had two small kids though. I only found two things it couldn't conquer, a 4 foot snow bank and quicksand. It was still running strong with 395K on the power train when I sold it.

I haven't had the top off yet and only took the doors off to check the hinge pins. Once winter rolls around it'll be topless for sure.

Looks like a really clean TJ. I haven’t seen many of the Freedom Package ones around my area. Congrats!

Looks great man.
I came from Cherokees too, and for the same reason. Both my Cherokees had before my TJ had 300,000+ miles when I sold them. After the second my kids were finally big enough I could get what I wanted.
