06 X Build: A Little at a Time

Hyper flash happens when one of the blinkers isn't working. Kick it on, and check front and rear. My guess is a burned out bulb.
now it's gone. I haven't changed anything. I thought maybe when I saw it the first time that it would go away after restarting it, but it didn't, as it went on for three or four days.... but now I don't know what to do. nothing, I guess?

I had something like that going on...turned out to be a loose connection on one of the blinkers. The connector body was dirty. Cleaned the body and pins with a toothbrush, got it to snap together properly, and the trouble is gone.

alright. if/when it happens again, I will try that and see if the problem goes away
Usually it ends up being a loose connection or a corroded ground.
what is the solution to a corroded ground?

My passenger side front parking light flasher had an intermittent issue when I bought it. Made the guy I bought it from replace the light. Replaced the light and it fixed. Next week after I bought it, the hyper-flash came back. Took it apart and noticed that the socket was shot and had rusted/corroded beyond repair. Popped the socket out and replaced with one of these. Also used a little dielectric grease to keep moisture out. Probably should have done the driver side too while I was at it, but I'm cheap LOL.

just ordered the racho rs5000x from Allen's, can't wait to get them in! the stupid skyjackers that the PO had ride like absolute garbage

Alright I need a little advice. my tires are wearing super unevenly, almost as if I have some positive camber. the outside edge is extremely worn, but it gets gradually less work towards the wheel well. this is only on the front

here's what the rears look like

I need new tires soon anyway so it's not a huge deal, but I don't want to slap on some new tires and the same thing happen. anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?

Get an alignment and see what your camber is. Too much toe could do that too.
I sent my buddy that owns a tire shop the pics and he said the same thing. also said they are too bad to even rotate because you don't want to put slick tires on the back.

what can be done to fix camber?

Offset ball joints, or new front axle.

Advice needed: today I woke up, walked into the garage, and almoda stepped into the giant puddle if antifreeze under my Jeep. I back into the driveway so I could crawl under it, but I couldn't see anything. there was a continuous drip that I could see coming off of the track bar, but I couldn't track down where it was actually coming from. anyone have any ideas? I need to get this solved asap as I obviously can't drive it until I get this resolved

Update: the area around the bolt holes for the shroud cracked and since it was dangling, the reservoir was in contact w a pulley (I think?) that slowly (and quietly) cut into/heated up the plastic to where the tank had an inch long hole in it...

everything is all fixed up now tho, back to the daily grind!

In need of advice:

After installing my savvy 1.25" body lift (a little while ago, not recently) the t case shifter won't stay in 4 low. I can hold it in 4 low, but as soon as I let it go, it pops out. I have a Jeep jamboree coming up in two weeks.... so yes, I procrastinated in solving this problem. But anyway, here we are and here are my options:

1. Get a teraflex adapter that uses the stock t case linkage:

Pros:
cheap
easy install
Cons:
I have heard the stock linkage can get messed up when flexing.... my question: how much flex will cause this? at 2.5" of lift + 1.25" body lift, will this rip the linkage apart at full flex?

(also if there is a better place to buy it from than extreme terrain, please lmk. that was just the first link that came up)

2. Savvy shifter
Pros:
Pinnacle of shifters. I don't doubt that at all.
Cons:
takes longer to install
more than double the price of the tflex adapter

My thought process is that sure, the stock linkage isn't ideal, but if I can save some cash to spend on other mods, I'd rather do that. I'm on road more than off so the 4wd isn't getting used constantly. if the tflex adapter is garbage though, I won't waste my money

Have you tried adjusting the linkage rod. There is a adjustment bolt you can loosen and move the linkage around a bit. Might be worth a try before you go spending more coin on the problem.

I believe so. as far as I know it's as extended it can be and it still won't get to 4 low. I've heard the extra ".25 on the body lift can cause that

another reason for you to hate them.... I sometimes hate them too

So nobody has heard anything about the teraflex adapter?

No one really runs it because the consensus is that the Novak and Savvy cable shifters are the best (Savvy being the better of the two).

The cable design is a much, much better design than the linkage style that Teraflex is using, which is basically the same as the stock linkage, just adjustable.

If you want more opinions on this, you may want to post a thread about it so that it gets more attention than being buried in your build thread.

I will say however, that I would personally just pony up the extra cash, buy once, and cry once with the Savvy unit.

It's easy to install and shifts oh so well!

Thanks Chris. Next time I ask a question like this I'll start a new thread. What's the major problem with the stock linkage, the fact that at flex it can have issues since its mechanical and mounted to the body?

Yes. The stock linkage (and a linkage like this) doesn't have the flex and smoothness of a cable shifter.

I put the Savvy shifter in mine, and you wouldn't believe how much smoother it is than stock. It's a night and day difference. Expensive, yes, but worth it in every way!
