What are he specs on the stock TJ wheel? Back spacing? Looking to get some new wheels but don't know anything about the back spacing, etc. etc. Just want some new wheels that are stock dimensions.

@Chris , do your Pintlers have 5.5 BS? If so is that why you went with wheel spacers?
I have Ravines with 5.5 BS and may go with spacers when i upgrade to 33x12s.

My Pintlers have 5.25” backspacing, so I was basically forced to go with a wheel spacer, as they would have rubbed big time without spacers. You’ll probably need a 1” wheel spacer as well.

Ok thanks, thats what i thought, ill run 1" spacers while i decide what to do with my Ravines ... :)

My OEM wheels have a backspacing of +32, so I had to get the Spider 1.25" spacers. I about to upgrade my wheels to the Black Rock Viper which has a backspace of -19, so my spacers will be removed. If my calculations are correct then the new -19 should be perfect.

The numbers you are using are offset numbers, not backspacing. They don't mean anything to most people, FYI. Backspacing is the measurement in inches from the rear wheel mounting surface to a straightedge across the rear outside edge of the wheel...

That's right. My apologies for using the incorrect numbers and terminology. Please disregard everything I said regarding backspace.

With small backspacing (between 3 "to 4") how does this influence the stability of the vehicle as well as the driving quality ...? Is it better than having 5 "backspacing for example ...?

Less back spacing pushes the tire and wheel out further, so technically, it would seem to add stability. If you have a typical 12.5" wide tire, the inner part of the tire will rub the suspension when turning with a backspacing of more than maybe 4.25", so you have two choices, use spacers if you have to, or better yet wheels with less back spacing. 3.75-4" being pretty ideal.

My past wheels back spacing was 3.4", and the tires did stick out a little further than I'd have preferred, but it drove fine. I know have wheels with 3.7" back spacing. One could argue the less back spacing you have though, the more leverage there is on the bearings, and whatnot, but doesn't seem to be a problem with any typical TJ wheel of 3.25-4" of back spacing. I've been using wheels with that range of back spacing for 11 years.

When I search online for wheels I never see backspacing as a choice, only offset. How do I find replacement wheels for my stock TJ 15x7 wheels without offset? I have 30/9.50-15 tires...It's a 4 cyl auto and I'm in CO so...

Thanks!
Bill

If you know the wheel width and offset, you can plug those numbers in on this website to find the backspacing:

Or this site:
