31" tires with 2-3" lifts?

Nice TJ! The first thing I did to my TJR was put a Zone 1.75 BB with Rancho 5000X shocks, and it was a great way to lift inexpensively and to tell the truth, rode very much like the OME suspension on there now...could've saved a wad of cash by sticking with the BB...

Don,

Do you know which Rancho 5000x shocks you ran with the 1.75"BB? I'm getting a 1.75"BB (already have a 1.25" BL) and since that height is sort of in the middle, I'm trying to decide between the Ranchos made for a 0-2" lift or the next size up made for a 2-3" lift (Rancho website actually says they're for no lift or for a 2.5" lift... Amazon seller is listing the ranges listed above). Thanks!

Meant glwood, not Don...

Rancho RS55239 & RS55241
Awesome, thanks for the quick reply! I was leaning toward those, mainly to leave me some flexibility to increase the lift a little in the future without having to replace the shocks again. And you didn't have any issues with them being too long? Did you need extended bump stops? I'm planning to be mainly using this on the street and my understanding is that the BL lift should help a little bit but just want to be careful to avoid having to return parts or not having parts (extended bump stops) on hand while everything is apart. Thanks again

I never had any issues, and did not have extended bump stops until I put on the OME lift.

Do you have any pics of when you had the BB and Rancho shocks?
These two:

Yup, a BL is only needed if you're doing a tummy tuck or you're running your tires into the fenders and want to address the issue that way. There's better ways to accomplish the same thing though. You don't need a cable shifter for a body lift, you can relocate the transfer case shifter with a bracket to accomplish the same thing. The cable shifter just works mo' better.
If i remove my BL, would I need to change my cable out. It has a novak cable shifter currently installed because there is a 1.5 inch BL on it. I just went from 33s to 31s so the BL or some suspension lift needs to go,

No. The cable is an upgrade for any height.

I have the 245/75/16 Duratracs (in load range C) on Moab wheels for my 2002 sport. I like the load c range tires because they are lighter and I don't need to worry about stressing out my axles, my spare is a reasonable size, cost, etc. I don't have any lift and my jeep just does fine for the fire service and logging roads that I occasionally find myself on.

So this is a pic with the 245s? It looks pretty good. Have any more pics? I’m thinking about going with the same setup on my 05 rubi

Welcome to the forum! Nice LJ. What do you have planned for it?!

I've had it for almost 3 years and between what I do for a living having me away from home so often, primary care for a now passed elderly relative, the only wheeling its done is out here on the farm as a farm vehicle and back road trail runner (at which its super fun for). I actually have time now to take a wheeling trip up to Hidden Falls here in TX so I'll probably be adding a winch soon for when I inevitably get hung on up on the t-case skid goin somewhere I shouldnt. We'll see after the trip where its current set up and my lack of wheeling skill allow it to go and then build/learn from there. Its my daily driver so i probably wont get too crazy with much more lift but I would like to go to a 33 eventually and do some select-able lockers in both axles. I do LS swaps in Square Body Chevy's as my side hustle. The engines are cheap and plentiful down here where I live. If I do the research and its as practical of a swap fuel econ. and cash wise for a Jeep as it is for the old Squares that's not out of the realm of possibilities either. The end goal is a capable enough rig to road trip and run trails in places like Moab, the Rubicon, etc... I stayed at a lot of campgrounds close to these trails while I was out touring and promised myself I'd go back to explore on my own time...

Some good guys that wheel the Hidden Falls area on 33's or 35's. When I was there we took several first-timers along. It's nice to go with someone who knows the trails. @b0xcar, @Bob in Texas, @Kris M

Welcome to the forum!

When you're ready to make that trip to Hidden Falls let me know, should be able to rally a few guys up on short notice. We usually plan a trip at least once a month and meet up at Wolf Caves or Hidden Falls.

Looking forward to seeing another Jeeper on the trails soon.
